My first impression of the game was "Just another gig sporting a Halo 3 Beta" That was until I played it. The game is a sandbox, you can do anything you want in it, from throwing deceased enemys, to throwing 4 ton cars. The 3 gangs (Los Muertos, Shai-gen, and The Volk) have varying difficulties, Los Muertos being the easiest, and Shai-Gen being the hardest.
There is an Agency, where you can depart with modded out cars. The SUV (made to go over any obstacle) the Supercar (made to go extremely fast, and flu under cars) and the Truck Cab (Made to go through any obstacle). They are all extremely intimidating lookwise. You advance through different levels of an ability. You collect agility orbs to jump higher/run faster, kill poeple by kicking them or throwing something to level up in strength, kill enemys by running them over, going off jumps, or doing races to advance in driving (each star you advance your car gets better), and kill enemys with rockets or grenades to advance in explosives. So yes, there is a little RPG element.
You go through different "Kindpins" as they call it, to complete a city. Once you do that, there is hardly any threat in that particular area. But before you explode the boss, you have to mnake it through the sub-bosses. They are basicly people you kill to higher the percentile of you being able to kill the kingpin. (Cutting gun supply off by killing sub-bosses etc.).
There is a pack you can download via Xbox Live to unlock 4 new characters. (Free of charge, of course). The game is very glitchy. You may see something you want to kill, but when you back up and move the camera angle, it is gone. Also, do go under staircase, then run forward, you will get your head stuck in the staircase. But hey, the game is new, so I am cutting it some slack.
All and all I give Crackdown a 8/10. I deducted 2 points for the glitchyness, that can ruin your whole mission. *** I hope you liked my review!!
