UK, February 12, 2007 - Bungie's introducing a new feature for Halo 3's multiplayer which lets you mute any irritating idiots that keep talking about "owning you" or calling people "noobz". Thank the lord.

In the latest Bungie Update, content manager Frank O'Connor hits the nail on the head by saying "teenagers, plus anonymity, plus microphone = idiot". Something many people that have played either Combat Evolved or Halo 2 online will attest to.

So, step in the A-Hole Button, which "lets you exact instant, silent vengeance" on "vocal buttmunches" who, according to O'Connor, are as fun to play against as normal people, as long as you can't hear them.

Simply hit the back button and the score list comes up with everyone's tag on it. By cruising through the list with the right stick you can highlight the babbling berk and mute them for the rest of the game. Bliss.

"We're doing our best to come up with lots of smart solutions for stuff like this," continued O'Connor, "but honestly, we can't be parents to some of these poltroons. We're much more concerned with giving you guys the tools you need to silence them."

Something that every game should make so simple. No more having to go to the Guide, the players list, then pressing A to mute someone.

Plus it's a feature which is in the guide anyway.... so you can do it on any 360 game.

Yes, but it takes too long to do it. Say you're midgame:

Find a quiet area. Press the Guide Button. Scroll down to the players list. Select the player. Press A. Scroll down to mute. Press A. Press the Guide button again.

You can't deny that the Halo2 way will be a lot quicker.

Sounds cool. I hate it when you get some little kid screaming down his mic....

Slightly quicker the way you describe is the crap way to do it...

Normally

-Bring Up Player List (in Game)
-Highlight Player then View Gamercard
-Then Select Mute

The only thing the Halo 3 cuts out is the (View gamer card) element, not that much quicker in my view as you'll still need to hide up somewhere. Good feature but didn't need the song and dance about it.

Fair play, I forgot about the Gamercard ingame bit.

However, I don't know how fast the Guide is for you, but anything Guide related takes me about 3-5 seconds to load up.

Halo fans will be pleased by anything. All i care is that they sort out the super-easy sniping. I can pick a head off from 100 yards, while falling down a cliff, mental.

Plus using the Guide to mute someone crashes your game way too often.

I daren't mute someone in any game in fear of my 360 crashing on the Guide.

Sniping's not that easy on Halo. It's easier than most games but I think that adds to the appeal a little more. Newbies can pick it up and do reasonable with a bit of practice, but I guarantee you, if you play the veterans you'll notice the difference in skill straight away when it comes to sniping.

They should at least put a bit of a camera shake/hold your breath thing into it.

People can jump out of the flying things, and snipe people whhy they are dropping though the air. And then they drop on the floor with no damage, the game does my head in sometimes.

Fair enough, its a good game, but its no were near the standard some people think it is. But then when it came out, i was playing PC FPS games, which poop onto Halo from a great height.

Excellent idea, and aloooooooooooot quicker.

By pressing select it doesn't have the delay like the guide so a person would be muted within 2 seconds, 1 to load list 1 to select player[s].
