I never liked Animes before. I gave Naruto a quick go and Bleach, after everyone said they were amazing, but just couldn't get into it.

A few weeks ago everyone started telling me about this new anime that is just so incredible good. I was sceptical, as they've said it before, but as the story didn't involve any fighting and an amazing story, I thought I'd give it a go.

It has the best story I have seen in anything for a long time:

The series (episode 17 out of a planned 36 was released today) centres around Yagami Light, a straight A Japanese high school student who one day finds a 'Death Note'. Death Notes are books that belong to Shinigami (Death Gods) and allow them to end a humans life. Once a human touches the Death Note it belongs to him and he can use it.

To use a Death Note the person needs to write someone else's name in there whilst thinking of their face. That person will die of a heart attack within 40 seconds, unless time and method of death have been previously defined.

Yagami decides to use the Death Note and rid the world of all evil which quickly gains him the attention of the police and L, a famous private detective that has solved many cases before, but no one has ever seen him.

And that is the start to a very interesting series.

All episodes are in Japanese and subtitled in English.

You can watch it on Youtube or in far superior quality (requires a free account and the DIVX player though) on Stage6 (http://stage6.divx.com/).

I don't like Anime, I think they're boring and just not great, but the story to this is just amazing.

Give the first episode a go and then decide. Apparently the film is not even half as good.

I got as far as the intro, and then I scooped out my eyeballs and sent them to Tibet for a better life.

Dont get me wrong, the story sounds good, I would like to watch it, so thats why Im going real life.

Well, this sounds rubbish, but I've not really watched an anime before this. The other ones always seemed crap. With Death Note it is full of twists (think Lost) and it's a really thought provoking story.

Episode 1 is an introduction to the series, so it is nowhere near as good [obviously] as 3 onwards. Skip past the intro screen (alwthough I'm beginning to like the song).

Episode 1 promises quite a bit about the whole series as well. Light changes so much in the series and that episode. It's but a taste of things to come.

Episode 17 came out this week and it left such a cliffhangar, I can't wait til Wednesday.
