Aaaaa......red Lights

Well the Nightmare before Christmas happened to me….

I was playing Pro5 when I want to turn off my 360 after taking out the game out of the console and the light on the Xbox turned red…..@$#$#@^#$&%%#^%$ :@

After looking on the internet what it could be I found that it seem that it is hardware failure.

that sucks when I got my 360 and treid to turn it on the red lights flashed but I just didnt hooke it up right. so are you sending th e xbox back to microsoft for repair?

Okay this morning before I came to work I tried the 360 again……and it was working fine… (Y)
So I played for 30 min and no problem lets hoop it was just glitch when I took out the CD out of the console…..lets keep our fingers crossed…. :unsure:

Red light isn't always a hardware failure. It can also mean a wire came loose, or something like that.

My scart cable was half sticking out my 360 and the light went red.

I've seen the 'E74' error message a couple of times when turning my console on....I'm pretty sure that's when it doesn't pick up the AV cable immediately....I turn off and back on and it works fine.

Never had any freezing or crashing in game yet (touch wood) so it doesn't bother me...it just scared the poop outta me when I first saw the error!

Mine had the red light flashing, the troubleshooting in the manual said check the Video cable was in correctly, it was not pushed in properly, pushed it in firmly till was in properly & all systems go :)

I haven't seen the red light once on mine. No error messages either. My system works perfect.... I must be one of the lucky ones I guess!

I got a red light when I 1st swithed mine on - some plug in back of 360 wasn't in right though :D. Panicked for a good few minutes!

I've had the scart cable red light error, scared me when i first saw it, thought the 360 was fecked.
It was never an av error lights, it was the 3 lights error, when i finally realised, after i got the crashin, that is was only 3, but the 4th looked like it was lit from the 2 quadrants next to it colouring it.

Should get my replacement tomorrow

like that photo of a 360 on top of a amp. it didnt look safe our level.
thats good, to keep a record of all the errors that comes up.

I got a flashing red light in the lower right section of the circle a few days ago when I was trying to play a game. I turned the machine off and back on again, though, and the game played fine.

Not had any problems since, so hopefully it was just a one-off error, and not a sign of things to come.

My Xbox has now been picked up, and the DHL guy said that he had been doing nothing but picking up and returning XBox 360's since christmas. Looks like there is quite a big problem with them

Just because you've got a red light doesn't instantly mean ur Machine is dead.

Havent got time to read the rest of this thread so sorry if its been said, but the red light could have come from a loose wire. if you've had no problems since, its not a hardware fault that you need to worry about :)

we can do mistakes too, that we dont realise and the 360 goes to hell and people can loose their warrranty, when MS pick up the error and see that it was not a system fail but something else.

you should ask MS what was the cause of the red lights with your first 360, it can be some power problem, you never know!

well I have to say that sins that issue I have not get any problems any more with my 360...
but 3 Xbox, that is to much... and can’t Microsoft help you with it’s hard to believe but yes that sucks…

That is shocking, and very very unlucky...it must be somethnig to do with the power supply your putting it in, or something like that.

I think you should now go to the retailer for replacement rather than MS.

Your getting back reconditioned units that obviously aren't up to scratch.

Go to the retailer you purchased from and demand them to replace it...obviously don't mention it's a diffirent unit to the one they supplied and hope they don't check the serial number!

Other than that you seriously should contact Watchdog....they'll be itching to cover it and with them involved it'll guarantee MS sort it out ASAP and most likely compensate you too.

I can remember when Watchdog went crazy over the Dreamcast and it's dodgy online claims! Lol.

Didn't know weather to post this in the 360Help Thread or here, so thought i'd put it in both....

I kinda have a problem with my 360 I think...just gone to play it now and everytime I switvh it on it just crashes, as in I get a beeeeeeeeeeeep noise and the screen goes a bit fuzzled. No red lights on my 360 though. Have tried with 3 different games aswell. . Im just giving it chance to cool down or the sort, anyone else ever had this?

Just rang up customer support as I started to get 3 red lights on it, they made me try a few things on it, didn't work, so they're sending me a box to put it in and send it back tonight. Im absolutely gutted.

I did hade some red lights again yesterday after I played the demo of full auto for 10 min.
Did some of you hade the same problem…I did not try the demo again…

played like for 4 minuts

i layed down my 360 i had it standing and after that it's been ok, i had a few freezing moments before, it's funny it's freezes when it gets warm, :zip: bad joke

I got a fright when I seen the RED LIGHT fot the 1st time. A bit like the time I saw the Exorcist. You have seen it once and you hope its your last. Wasnt a big prob though.

Possibly you just nudge it when you checked if all the things were on but it is aa good idea to tell you if somethings up with your 360

you could try what padds did, he took the hard drive off, booted it up, let it run for a bit, turn it off, put the HDD back on, then see if the red lights appear

No, I started the 360 downloaded texas hold'em and played that 2, 3 hands with you and tryed it again and the same happen.

Then I tryed the single player and it happen again.

Hello everyone, this is my first post,

My 360 died last night. It keeps freezing everytime I play a game whether its from the HD or disc.
The disc tray also seems to stick when you try to open it. I have tried it standing(normal pos) and lying down.
Dashboard seemed ok and I could communicate with friends, how frustrating!
I am being sent address details to send it to.
It just happened to my mate and he got back a reconditioned one back. Nasty!
I only got it in march.
Had red lights during turning it off and on to try and reboot.
Didnt see how many though. During gameplay it dies in seconds, even demos on HDrive
