i am trying to steal the ring from the countess, and the ring is not in the jewellry box. any pointers?

Check GameFAQ's to see if they mention anything about this in the guides. To be honest I actually remember an FAQ mentioning this, and I think there was a solution so if you snoop around you should find it I think.

ive tried everything, its well annoying. ive tried waiting for her to go to bed. no ring in the jewelry box (apart from just a brass ring). ive tried to pickpocket her when she is asleep, no ring. ive tried all the boxes in the room. ive tried killing her, she doasnt die just goes unconsious.

this is really doing my head in. any help? please?
