Xbox 360 Wireless Wheel with Force Feedback

Although the Wheel can be used Wirelessly, using the same wireless technology as the Xbox 360 Controller, if you do it will immensely drop the controls and handling that make it a good product.

As the Force Feedback is turned off unless you connect it directly to the mains and it’s at this point you realise that Rumble simply isn’t good enough for the Xbox 360’s Racing Games.

The catalogue of games that provide or will provide the full use of the Wheel is limited, although it will work with all games including non-racers (get bored :p) the only way to make full use is with either PGR3, Test Drive Unlimited, Need for Speed: Carbon and the upcoming Forza Motorsport 2. Although Test Drive is compatible I personally think it needs to be calibrated more to ensure better control, something quoted on the Xbox.com as “coming soon”.

As briefly mentioned above Force Feedback, the only way I can describe this experience is that playing with it then without it feels like it’s two different products.

You have to have this hooked up to the Mains granted it will restrict your normally Wireless enjoy-ability something we have enjoyed since the launch of the Xbox 360 but without making that sacrifice your reducing yourself to a overpriced product.

Coming in at £89.99/£79.99 (Retail/Play.com) it doesn’t come cheap. The only added justification I can give is you get PGR3 £44.99/ £25.99 (Retail/Play.com), thrown in a nice shiny plastic sleeve :D Xbox decided to go all out.

So although it will set you back a bit, it will be worth it in the end.

Lap or Clamp?

Well trying to pull off aggressive drifts round the corners of PGR3, will leave you Wheel a bit worse for wear, all the dropping on the floor and the loss of control will soon eat away at your already growing frustration. So Clamp it…

If you can’t then I’m sorry you will have to induce (like me) a more poor setup and less control and maybe you realise the Wheel wasn’t for you?

Finally who’s this going to appeal to, well I love my Racing Games and I truly loved this possibly because I’ve never had a Wheel before so maybe I’m just overwhelmed by “newbie” status. However I have found that until I get fully use to it I will still be using my Xbox 360 controller to play competitively as you can’t get over Years of playing Racers on a controller after having one long weekend on a Wheel, so enjoy.

Get yours using the sites many affiliates, however I do suggest Play.com (http://www.play.com/?P36=4TAHTM)

Thank You

nice review, i guess youve pretty much tested it fully, might consider buying one. I have a desk so clamping it isnt an issue.

nice one D

I'm glad someone finally got a use from it, I considered buying a seperate desk or table to attach it to but I'll see how it goes the lap route, I could always pick up another one to stick on my Comp after I get my new PC monitor.
