Its not fair to just say Americans take it too seriously I've found its the majority of people across a broad spectrum of different nationalities. I find the abuse that you get off people more annoying than actually losing in a ranked match. If you win then you are sometimes labelled a "cheat", sometimes you just can't win :(.

Yeah i agree with you D its not just the americans i think the reason they always get the blame is because there is so many of them:s but i do think people do take it too seriously after all it is just a game:D

Haha that post made me laugh, seeing someone vent their anger is always amusing. :D
I don't play much ranked games but when I do I have to admit people do seem to take it to seriously. People that disconnect or glitch to stop them getting a loss to their total deserve to be shot in my opinion.

Most people try to blame others on their team for their loss, it's their way of telling their brain that it wasn't because they didn't have as much skill as the other team, but it was because of this, that or the other.
Just about everyone in the high rank matches are bitter after a win or lose. The phrase "Good game" is now reserved for those low rank matches, and is replaced by "You're garbage! Go play a different game you noobs." etc.
btw, like Dcontrol said, it's not just Americans, you get trash talk off every nationality. I had someone screaming some other language down the mic in a postgame lobby the other day because we pulled a skirmish game from 2-0 down to 3-2 up, and it was their host, so I don't know why they were so upset.

I always take it seriously, as I don't like losing.

I only really played ranked matches on COD2 and found it really funny when the whiny kids dont get it their own way.

When I played ranked LMS on GRAW, people did get annoyed, but seeing as we all knew each other it was generally kind of friendly annoyance. :D

ive had things like that happen, i accidently killed a kid on CoD that was on my team and he absolutly flipped out, granted he was like 9. but he left after everyone told him off.

Doesn't matter if you win or lose, losers will always be losers. I was trying to make the teams fair once by asking a few high-ranked players to move over to the other team, this way the game can be more exciting and enjoyable; but soon after my request someone started talking nonsense and saying "Oh, you think you're hard then? I just got this game today and I bet I could **** you up."
Now me being a person who takes a challenge very seriously, I accepted and so we had a four versus four on Rainbow Six: Vegas. After their team was completely decimated without a hope of victory even in their wildest dreams, the fellow says to me "******* hackers, nearly beat you as well." Now if you classify 'nearly' as being nowhere near beating me, then yes he did nearly beat me. Otherwise he got his completely 'raped' as the 1337 gamers would say.

It can be quite frustrating though, e.g In Rainbow six, i am only a Specialist and i have 24 kill etc then you see the score board and half the folk who are supposed to be decent arent even on double kills (and they are rated Sargent)
End Result = Loss and Less Experiance points!!!
This for me can be very annoying!!

Yes, I've seen this happen many times too. Most people cheat their way into ranking up, I've seen it happen. It was the same on Halo as well, you'd see LV40's who sucked arse or simply used cheats.

Actually I just recently discovered how great crumpets are, so when people crack a crumpet joke I chuckle with them because I do love crumpets lately. Also I'm half Turkish and in the Turkish culture tea is a very big tradition so when people make a tea joke I can't deny the fact my family enjoys drinking all kinds of interesting and quite tasty tea. :)

People find it amusing when they enter a server and you say "Hello, my name is John. My hobbies are tea, crumpets and video games." and what's so funny is the fact that half of these people actually think you're serious.
lmao
i got some abuse off an american the other day he said "**** all british people"
then all the lobby went crazy with everyone just having a pop at each other was pretty funny

All this talk of scones, tea and crumpets has gotten me all hungry. Aw I've only got tea out of those three left :'(. *makes a note for shopping list*
I've had "Ooooooh! tea and crumpets!" shouted at me quite a few times on XBL. It really doesn't bother me but the way they think its something like an insult cracks me up.

Agreed it most certainly isn't just Americans. On Halo 2 I had a team of French guys on Major Clan whom we thrashed and damn one of them was shouting something really loud and no doubt really abusive to the rest of his team mates...
People do take matches seriously, even I do I don't like to lose games its just me but I don't go insulting people at the lobbys for 'not doing a good job'...

I think it's easy to see as Americans as mainly because they more than likely have the biggest proportion of Online Gamers on Xbox Live.
Anyway I think a lot of people are in danger of getting to caught up in a game, I've down it myself. However the thing I mainly hate is before a game when someone on my Team says without any provocation "You Suck, I'm going to Shot you in the Head, !"
Calls for instant Booting in my Book.

I hate getting kicked from servers after I kill the host. :(

Taking a game seriously is okay, I love doing it. But taking a game seriously to the point where you're very mad at the opposition is a little... Sad. I'm rarely mad at the other team when we lose unless they were cheating which is rare but I am sometimes mad at my own team for not doing simple things that could have earned us the victory but once again this isn't very common either.

I get more annoyed when we are playing as a team and we don't play like one, everyone just runs to the Package or Hostage without a thought, it's a shame.
That's why I think the inclusion of Teams and Clans would make these so called Team Games more appealing.
