Check it out, sounds interesting, shame its EA.

With the Champions League competition soon to kick back into action, EA has announced the development of UEFA Champions League 2006-2007 for Xbox 360, PS2, PSP and PC.

It appears as though the Xbox 360 version is heading up development, with a number of features you won't find anywhere else. The Xbox 360 version introduces a new way to play the game: collectable virtual cards. This mode, which EA is calling Ultimate Team mode, will enable enhanced team development.

Using these cards players can hand-pick everything from team and staff members, to your match strategy and stadium. You'll be able to go online to buy, sell or trade virtual players, staff and gameplay cards, giving you more control over team chemistry, training, morale and fitness.

Gameplay cards can be collected and used at key moments during a match to gain a tactical advantage over your opponent, boosting the abilities of specific players or the whole team.

All versions of the game will feature the traditional way to play, taking your favourite club team from qualification all the way through to the final. A UEFA Champions League Challenge mode will provide the ultimate test of skill, with a number of classic moments in the competition's history recreated using modern teams.

The Xbox 360 version will also feature the most technically advanced visuals and control, with more fluid player movement making it easier to perform more incisive moves, such as one-twos, first touch passes and through balls. As with FIFA 07, the ball has its own independent physics and is now even more responsive.

We're also told of an eight-way multiplayer mode - although there's no mention of online matches - and a plethora of unlockable extras.

UEFA Champions League 2006-2007 will be released on March 23, 2007.

Yeeerp more games the better I say, even if this will be quite pants (like I expect it to be) it'll be fun getting the achievements. I'm glad the 360 is getting exclusives too. :D

I may finish off the FIFA 07 achievements and get this instead (on release) for cheap. OK, there will be less teams, but more features.
