View Full Version : Rainbow Six Vegas- Better than GoW?
I might be crazy enough to say it- I love it more than GoW. The game is clearly better online by miles and the single player sticks up with it. Maybe not beating out GoW, it is still right in there for the GoTY mix. So what do you guys think? YOu know what I think (from my review on 360m), but what do you think..better than GoW?

I thought the sp for R6 was kinda dull and average - but I only played that demo. I love the gameplay of gears to death. I will however agree that from what I know of the R6 online mode, it seems more fleshed out and well thought out - and offers more content. But I like the maps of GoW more I think.
I think if I played R6 retail I'd still prefer GoW to R6 because each firefight is just so much more satisfying... adrenaline pumping satsifaction. Just.. soo... good. And on top of that I don't play fps's multi that much. Even gears I don't play online that much :/

It's miles better...GOW is made for the masses. Yes it's pretty and has a reasonable story, but in my eyes you carnt beat a bit of realism and that's what RB6 Vegas and the others have.

I'm preferring Gears right now, but only because I've only experienced single-player. I'm sure... in fact, 100% confident that Vegas will be better online. And I can't wait to try it. :cool:

really?!?! all the mags (ok, teh 2 that i've seen) are saying GoW is better overall + online. the 1 i got at the mo gives r6 7/10 online (which is complete crap)

i dont trust reviews anymore espically in mags and on big sites like gamespot and ign, they get payed off to give good scores to games

I rate them both highly and I play both of them just as much. I like certain aspects of GOW like the healing of a team mate on multiplayer and being able to run both which aren't features of R6V. Graphically its better and it has less bugs that I've experienced anyway compared to R6V but I'll say they are just as good as each other apart from R6V's better online selections. I would have loved to have had face scanning in GOW :).
Tested the demo fo vegas and it looked good, easy to get started.
GOW it's different and story mode till now rocks.

Say's the man who hasnt a 360 and goes of views of complete tools who dont review games properly and give them good scores incase no one buys the mag.
GOW is very overhyped and please remember it's appeal is for those who follow the crowd. RB6 isnt popular as of yet and i for one hope it stays that way. Let the idiots who spoil it for others play other games.

If my MP didn't lag I would say it was very very good.
Although because my sister is ALWAYS on her laptop on MSN, my connection in games is always one red dot - which is laggy as hell.

There's loads of things you can do to prevent this. You could hurt her with her laptop, hurt the laptop, put a password on it...etc etc. You could also invite her to play the game, as lately there have been quite a few girls playing this. One which i was talking to last night said she preferred RB6 over GOW as everytime she played GOW, she said she had a ''will you be my girlfriend?' at least everygame! Hence how she wanted a more mature player game. Either way Thorny, once you start playing and playing you get quite hooked.

The Multiplayer is better, however the downside to Rainbow Six or maybe the upide to GoW is that the Checkpoint saves seem to be alot closer together.

PDZ nis the hardist game to play on the 360 it actully takes skill to master it that why people dont like it, weere as halo 2, call of duty 3 doo it all for you not saying their bad i just saying they make it too easy to aim.

Well, i've taken advantage of my sister been out for the day and had R6 session before work.
Had a green connection and everything zomfg
I am actually fairly good at it, better than I was at GRAW. But can't compare it to GoW yet.

holy crap, i never thought id see the day, steve likes something more than GoW. i myself like GoW from what ive played. the controls for R6 kinda suck. when im playin the demo i dont want to have to hold L. the cover system just doesnt do the game justice.

you were properly using the super dragon noob canon, until you get the pistol head shots mastered you cant get the hang of that game.
and how is the last sentence cryptic its just their to say theirs heavy auto aim on both call of duty 3 and halo 2 making them easyier.

If you play it on the 2nd difficulty 1st time round you ge tthe achievements for both. Meaning you only have to play the game through twice.

If you complete an act/game on Hardcore or Insane, it
counts for the lower difficulties as well; i.e. if you complete the tutorial level
on Insane, you will get the achievements for Hardcore and Casual as well. However, you must play through the entire game once on Casual or Hardcore to unlock Insane.

yes, play it on hardcore, that unlocks insane, then you do it on insane.
I found it really re-playable as co-op is so fun, and it gets a lot harder on insane

i loved the co-op on this, but havent played it since completing it on insane. I love the online mode too much, even if there is a lot of idiots online

Yes it is good. The best across live (in my opinion) and just keeps on getting more enjoyable when you play with good people. Saying that, if the people i play along with arent online, i usually dont play any game. But i have had games on this and havent met a single idiot (bar spawn killers), whereas in other games that's a different story for another day.
You will be hard pushed to find faults with this.

Well i just started rainbow 6 today it is a good game, good online here is where GOW beats it hands down co-op in gears of war is better i think controlls is GOW are better, graphics in GOW are better, but rainbow 6 has a lot more to it's multiplayer as game modes and there is customisation which is pretty good i am not, but in the 5 games i have played in rainbow six vegas for some reason the bullets take long to register online

RSV - 8.5
see where it beats GOW is that it is an FPS, just simply amazing, if they would have made vagas like GRAW and GOW i would have cried.

I love the quick pick up and play ability of gow on and offline. Have yet to play rainbow 6 yet on 360 but will def get it soon!!!!

I haven't owned it long enough to say which I think is truly better.
So far Rainbow Six's online is pretty fun, but my only complaint is it seems like the graphics get downgraded so much when you play online.
The graphics in single player though are awesome. Gears is just a master piece though, so it's really tough to decide.
At the end of the day I think I prefer GoW.
Doesn't matter though since I have both though, lol.
I'd say the R6 SP is probably the best I have ever played it's just so enjoyable, but the online mode is pretty poor because half the bullets don't seem to register so I go through bullets about 4 times as much as I should, even the sniper rifle is completely retarded.
If they fixed the online mode it would be amazing, but as it stands it's just average for me, but I have barely played it much but I know in the few hours I did, the game isn't that good besides I suffered a bug about 3 times so all in all it's not a game I can, or will spend alot of time with online.

I have not yet played Gears Of War But I love Rainbow Six Vegas For the Awsome Realism in the Game the new Features (at least new to me the last game of the series i played was Rainbow Six 3 for the Xbox) i also am in love with the great online play the only thing i dont like is the power of a host in ranked matches but besides that this game Rocks.

i've played a lot of each, did 2 chapters single player, 2 on co-op for gears. in r6 you clear rooms together, cover each other + talk. gears you just do your own thing. no way that's better. gears 1 player is prob a bit better than rainbow, and i havn't played it online. but r6 is addictive online!

GoW is miles above R6 IMO, its a totally different class. I beleive GRAW is better than R6, i dont see what new it brings to the table.

I own both Rainbow Six: Vegas and Gears of War, and I'm not a big fan of the Single Player on Rainbow Six: Vegas and have yet to try multiplayer but I'm online on Gears of War whenever I can. I will try and get online on Rainbow Six: Vegas once I have converted my two brothers from World of Warcraft, to the ever-growing world of :live:

it depens on your armour/mobility. but yed, if you want to be able to take just a FEW bullets, you are reduced to walking pace unfortunetly. but then thta's the advantage of light armour. Tactical you see ;)

I own Rainbow Six Vegas and haven't played the single player (co op but not much), but put all my hours on the online portion (my only 360 game) out of Halo 2 (too many jerks online and the lack of a lobby p**ses me off). I really like the online matches and made alot of friends that I play with daily. But I do feel the the maps are too repetative and at the end feel the same. I hope when (if) Ubisoft releases their 1st downloadable content that they put out maps that are focused in the desert (It's Nevada duh!) and such and some new customization on the character and bug fixes would be nice too ;) .

Thorn has 10A/0M, (he stays still the whole level). i have 7A/3M and if someone throws a grenade, i cant get ouyt of it's way. I'm killed by grenades more than bullets. If you like speed, 5A/5M is prob good, or mabye 6A/4M.
What is the difference with the unlockable armour? is it more protection yet lighter that the 3 standard types?

I think so, because the armour i have is very light but seems way better than the others.

The next lot of armour you unlock is good. I am finding it's protecting me against bullets quite a bit more.
I am still on 10 Protection with 0 mobility. w00t.
