I don't get what you mean if you buy a 12 Month Card of Play.com and get your Points you will still receive according to the e-mail the Microsoft Points also. So you'll have 2800 Points (Y)

To Daniel 89, it's provided "as is" I can neither confirm the process or whether this is restricted to people who received the e-mail or not. The e-mail is authentic however I can only suggest you either just try it and see or contact Microsoft to see if you are eligible for the promotion.
