How about a new board for retro consols and games, seeing as retro games are proving popular on xbox live. I was thinking that I'd like to start a thread about a game I loved on dreamcast, a game called 'Shadowman'. Anyways would be nice to see if anyone else loved that game too. :geek:

powerstone on the dreamcast was cool, but even the dreamcast cant really be classed as retro. Its SNES and mega drive games we are getting on the XBLA. Cant wait for Worms and Sensible soccer

I love Retro. Thats why I bought a Jamma Arcade Cabinet and spent money converting it to MAME.
I now have over 5600 games available to play at the click of a button and on a proper arcade cabinet.

The way it should be done aswell (Y)
As for a Retro section. I can't see this happening as we would like to concentrate on Next-Ge platforms. I suggest if you fancy posting about something Retro make it in General Chat as this is a gaming forum after all so it will fit in just nicely there, seeing as were all gamers here n'all.
Cheers

Not sure if there would be much interest in a retro gaming section *overwhelmed by nostalgia and reminisces* I can remember most games and platforms. Some were good, others rubbish but they all add to retro gaming in their own little way.
Now if you love old school games then you'll love these beauties in this thread. They are Sega Genesis/Megadrive versions of freeware games .

Thanks for posting a link to that thread, I took some of the files and have them running on my Jamma Cab as well. Streets of Rage 2 and Gunstar Heroes play brilliantly with the Arcade Controls.

No worries, I wish I had that cabinet then I'd relive the old glory days :).

The whole thing cost me less than £180 including delivery.
Arcade Cabinet with Major Title 2 Jamma Board
PC Spec - Athlon 1800xp, 512meg DDR Ram, ArcadeVGA Card (needed to run the Arcade monitor as it outputs a 15khz signal), 40gig HDD, Full Mame Romset
JPAC - Jamma to PC adaptor (so that you can use the original controls and monitor)
Total £165 + £15 Delivery.
I could probably get between £30 to £50 for the Major Title 2 Jamma Board as well which would bring the cost down even more.
If you have any arcades close to you its worth your time asking them if they have any old Jamma Cabinets. Most of them will give you them for nothing or for a small fee depending on the quality.
You can then either gut it and put in a normal CRT monitor, PC and then add an I-PAC to use the controls or go the route I went down and got the PC to Jamma Adaptor to keep it looking as realistic as possible.

I had been planning on doing it for a while, but all my local arcades got rid of their Jamma cabs ages ago. I visited a few forums and found that its quite common for local arcades to let the Jamma Cabs go for free or a few quid so long as you pick them up yourself.
Once chap even got a Full 27inch Firtua Fighter 4 Cabinet for under £100.

Just seen this, good idea but maybe not big enough for a whole board maybe just a "The Retro Thread" put in a section. I'd sure post up, funnily enough I spent about 5 hours playing Mario Allstars at my Aunts today on the old SNES.

I have developed RSI on my right hand due to playing too much Track & Field

Its addictive trying to break the records as the system keeps them and reloads them when you next play.
Also been playing a lot of Wonderboy.

I thought that Yoshi's Island was the best 2d platformer ever made.
