Right, I don't mean glitches, bugs or poor networking code, just a simple list of things that annoy you about games, like characters, difficulty levels, etc.
I am getting really annoyed with games that integrate tutorials in the first mission. For example Rainbow Six where you're at the beginning in the village (or whatever) and the woman keeps telling you to flank, etc. Well, first of all I would've done that anyway, second of all why can't games have a separate tutorial level? And none of those annoying patronising voiceovers.

When you can't jump in a game. There's a ledge a foot up and I just. can't. get. to. it. Why not?

I actually like cutscenes. Perhaps the happy medium would be that every cutscene should be able to be skipped.

yeah theirs one blaze, cutscenes you carnt skip, usully ones before a boss fight are the worst as you more than likly have to retry a few times and check points were you start and face certain death

The fact that in general, female characters wear revealing outfits no matter how impractical. It just seems stupid to me...

Exposing T&A is always practical.
That's an easy one, cheating, if you want an example play PES/WE :)
And I don't mean online cheating, I mean AI cheating because Konami are too thick to develop a little something called decent AI.

when your guy on GTA could do eveerything but swim, sooo annoying. I just shot 50 odd bad guys, robbed a car and drove it like a madman, but i cant swim!
cutscenes annoy me, especially if they cant be skipped.
Stupid AI that lets you win by doing the same thing over and over, IE Fifa, Fight Night, any tennis game ever made

Oh man, that does suck. Like the dreaded 'catch-up' on racing games. Damn, that pisses me off. Or the FPS enemies who can see through walls...

Games that don't have 'invert X & Y axis' in the analogue stick options.
Invisible walls....if you want us going somewhere close it off for God's sake.
Sacrificing solid framerate in exchange for some 'cool grafikal effex'...particularly in FPS games where framerate is most important.
Plenty of others I'm sure.

Any moment in a game where you lose control of the character, eg. Movie Clips, Cinematics, etc.
Gears of War is possibly the worst offender of this that I have came across. Every-time you stop to listen to that women tell you crap, I don't care just let me play the game.
It's annoying if I wanted to be told what to do, I'd get a Girlfriend. It's just annoying you go to run somewhere it suddenly stops to show some crap clip like your man looking at the ceiling Wow. I couldn't give a damm...I want to kill Locust.
Also repetitive sound clips eg. King Kong, "Let's go Jack" "We need a stick Jack"....I need you to shut up or Jack is going to kill you, Fat Boy!
It's annoying, If I wanted to watch or listen to some scripted crap I would watch ITV!

i too vote for de-ranking on halo, and terrible voice acting.

I bet you loooove Metal Gear Solid. :D
I agree, though. I buy a game because I want toplay. If I wanted to watch something, I'd go to the cinema.
True, there has to be some kind of plot, but not to the extent of something such as MGS2, in which I actually was watching more than playing.
Gears of War did it fairly well, but there were still some relatively long cutscenes.

Well, actually no, they didn't do it "fairly well" for the simple reasons that you couldn't skip a cut-scene or the pause from the action required to talk to some woman, unlike Metal Gear Solid where you could skip cut-scenes, and even fast-forward codec conversations.

Ah right, I didn't notice that. You see, I've only played through it once (on Casual), and I wasn't too bothered about skipping them then, seeing as I wanted to know what was going on. That will annoy me when I play through on Hardcore or Insane, or in co-op, though.
Ah well, as I said, at least they're not too long.

My main one at present is using the paying public as Beta Testers.
How many times have you bought a game recently and within 24 hours some glaringly obvious error in game design or online flaw has cropped up.
These should have been fixed at the Play Testing stage not when the game has already gone gold.
I know they will release patches for games, but come on its nearly 1 month since COD3 was released and we are still awaiting a patch to fix the Online and Ranked match problems.
My other big bugbear has already been mentioned - Unskippable Cut Scenes.
