Gears Of War Xbox Update

Hi All,

Did everyone get the 'There is an update available for this game' message when they ran GOW for the first time?

Does anyone know what this was for?

I have noticed that textures seem a little unstable after agreeing to update. I played it for 2 days before updating and updated last night. I'm sure things now look smoother, in an Anti Aliasing way, but not in a good way.

I may just be paranoid as I was totally blown away with it and I'm sure it now looks a little 'dumbed down'.

Anyway, if anyone can tell me what the update was for I would appreciate it.

Oh, and if there is a way to 'undo' the update that would be helpful also.

dont know the update but i got it on the first day it came out and i had to update too. probably nothing special.

Nope if you search the Gears of War site and Forums you are bound to find something! :D

It was there on the wednesday... so it must have been there before the game was even released... something they missed I guess.

You can always do the cache clear Davebo so you can see for yourself if there's any noticeable changes.

Go to System blade, select memory, highlight your HDD and press y,x,x,LB,RB,x,x then select yes.

Will clear out all game updates, so any game that was updated will prompt you again to download the update next time you play it.

Then have a fiddle with Gears without updating....obviously this will not let you play on Live without the update so you can't test that aspect.

My guess is teh update was more for matchmaking niggles than anything else.
