I'm having a problem with my 360 which I think must be the Component HD AV Cable. I'm getting sound on my TV, but no picture. I don't think it's a problem with my TV or the SCART block I use because Sky works fine. Anybody else had problems?

K. All Component cables are HD. SO you don't need to add HD after component ever again :p

You use a scart block? Going to need more info on how things are connected here.

Like this (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5342378.htm). Xbox 360 into one, Sky box into another and DVD player into the last one.

So your not using component?

I'm using the cable that came with the premium console.

There are 2 different types of connections of that cable though. Compostie and Component. Composite is the yellow connecter. Component is Red, Blue, Green. The Red and White cables are audio. I guess you are using the scart thing that came with the 360 and plugging the composite cable in it then the scart into the scart box?

Yep, that's exactly right.

If you're plugging the composite yellow connector into your SCART adapter, then you aren't using HD. And so if the selector switch on the official cable is set to HD, then it's pumping out video signals on the component, which apparently isn't connecting to your scart block at all?

I should point out, I'm not trying to get a HD signal since I don't have a HDTV.

Well my suggestion is get the 360 RGB scart cable....then ditch that scart switcher there, they're horrible, and buy one that has RGB pass through on all scart sockets...you'll then have better picture quality for your 360 and your sky box.

Composite is the worst quality signal you can use.

Quick Question, what is an RGB pass through?

Quick Question, what is an RGB pass through?

Red Green Blue. There are 2 types of scart socket. One can handle RGB and the other sucks.

Just get a scart switcher that states RGB, obviously, or fully-wired (all 21 pins connected) sockets. Should only be £10-20 max for a 2 or 3 way switcher but I guess Ebay would be much cheaper. Also make sure you use fully wired scart leads (almost certainly should be anyway if they're scart to scart).

Oh and there's only 1 type of scart socket...but they can have any number of pins wired (up to 21) which will dictate what signals are carried and in what direction.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry, today, everything is absolutely fine!
