I had a thought on the whole Achievments thing.

For me,they don`t seem very fair.

You can play Madden and get 20 points for looking at the stats page,but only get the same ammount of points for driving every road in TDU.

I think that each game should have "STAR" achivement.
One Achievment that changes the colour of one of your reputation stars.

Say for example if you complete the story on Oblivion,or find every road in TDU..you get a green star in your reputations stars.

It could be one really hard to get achievment in each game.

It could be done in the same way..as say Karate belts..it could go on up to black stars and beyond..black satrs with a gold stripe..etc..etc

It seems a fairer way of showing who has put the time in to certain games.

Completing the story in Oblivian takes 40+ hours..do it and one of your stars changes.

Nar I believe the best way is they are progressive, they reward you for playing the game not for doing something stupid like collect CDs or View some Stats page.

Also get rid of Secret Achievements unless they seriously affect the impact of the Storyline.

50 for each game and Microsoft are in charge of deciding what they are for, I thin kwould work bettererer.

i agree with d +tb. difficulty + time should all be level for tehg ammount of GS you revieve. i dont think belts would work though. Secret achievements are stupid cos everyone has teh internet...

EDIT: there's an achievemtn on new NFS where you ahve to check teh game's official website to find out what it is!!!! RETARDED!!

I think someone at Microsoft should choose all the achievements for every game, people like EA are so retarded when it comes to them it spoils the "craze" so to speak, 2K are the same, 5 achievements for 1000 points? get lost.

Atleast this way the guy/girl at Microsoft could make them roughly the same and hard, plus I think EVERY game should have 50.

"Wow! he's got 30,000 gamerscore he must be good."

insted they would say:

"30,000 gamerscore fairly impressive but what games did he play to get them, Oh crappy Sports titles. What a -----!"

Well thats the way I look at it anyway, you can have a few crap titles in there but if the majority of your games are for Easy Achievements your just a fool.

Yeah i feel the same(Y) I look at someones gamerscore and see what games they have played. Like RaisedByFlames for instance he does not play sports games so 20k is a respectable score. Im not saying all sports games are easy but some of them are a joke:D I look at anyone with the full 1000 on ridge racer 6 that has not done it with game saves with a lot of respect. Its all about quality not quantity ;)

I do believe that the achievement system could be changed a bit to give gamers recognition for not playing easy gamerscore sport games but I don't know how it should be done. A star colour system like karate sounds reasonable, but I'm sure there's a better way.

I'm with Padds and Big D. We all have at least some idea which games are the easy ones. Since gamerscore doesn't affect anything else, it's fine leaving it as it is. And yes, we do get some slapdashed five achievements in an EA sports game, we also get some very interesting/cool ones, like the viral achievements or the ones in GoW. Plus, one more step in the certification process would mean more delays for games, and you all would be back here complaining about when a release slips for a couple days.

We don't need some system to give people recognition for avoiding sports games, or playing other games besides just sports games. We already have it. It's called 'Compare Games'. The user takes a look at what games someone is getting all their points from. That's good enough.

Giving developers/publishers freedom to choose achievements seems perfectly reasonable.

But the reward is nothing but a number that goes up a little bit, and has no effect on any other of the numbers in your life. Live with the disparity, it's not that big a deal.
