I seen the debate on the News a few days ago and I think its a joke. This country has went hay wire. A woman has recieved £1000 for not removing her headscarf in a Primary school. Tis a joke. Religon or no Religon I dont think she should be allowed to wear this item obscuring her face from very young children.

Just like to hear what you guys think on the debate

I Think they should be allowed to wear them but in certin places they should have to show their face, airports for exsample.

and im not been funny but what a stupid religion as is all religion

If I can't wear a hoody in a well populated town I see it very unfair for them to be aloud to wear a veil. I believe you should be aloud to wear/not wear what you like. But because they have banned hoodies in some towns I feel they should ban veils.

It's a hard choice as everyone should be freely allowed to wear what they want. However this is more of a social issue rather than the rights of one individual.

The problem is with other Religious Symbols they are relatively small in comparison and talk and communication especially face-to-face is working of the expressions of others and to put it bluntly if you can't see what She is doing that's going to cause an obvious barrier in the conversation.

So if you replace the word She or any individual terms with a Section of Muslim Women you can see that there would be a problem. As it means that they are staying confined in a group as most people would not be comfortable talking to them, understandably really.

Integration is very much a two-way street White Males especially are often referred to have a huge lack of knowledge when it comes to ethnic minorities but I found when talking to some they didn't understand alot of our own cultures and differences. All which need to be sorted out and I think the only way is education.

No.

They shouldn't.

It's our country and we make the rules.

If they think they can come over here and do whatever the they want they can back off to where they came from as far as im concerned.

They're just ungrateful s.

I think Religion is a private thing, well for me it is anyway, and therefore should be expressed in Private, I don't mind small objects like a small cross on a necklace. I'm sure there's small Islamic symbols they could carry.

Public Preaching, Religious House-calls by other Religions, or any other forms of Religious preaching should all be banned. If I wanted to join your religion I join up it's not as if there's a lack of places to go to join one.

I'm a guy who likes everyone to be treated the same so I don't like how they have special powers enabling them to wear these things in public while a ned can't even wear a cap that shows his face, when I look at someone with a veil on for all I know it could be a beast or a killer.

It's like me walking about with a balaclava on, it just wouldn't be allowed by ANYONE.

Might be a good social experiment...Walk around with a balaclava on and see how long it is before you get shot! :) But seriously it would be worth doing that for a laugh anyway.

That is a great way to put it and I fully agree with you on that one.

Although Jack Straw and co. talk through their arses most of the time and we dont ask them to remove their trousers I still think that any headwear etc. should be removed.

England technically isn't a country :p It was United with Scotland and Ireland under the Act of Union and then became the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, then after the establishment of the Republic of Ireland change it's name to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

I see your point though...We are meant to live in a secular country. There by meaning that all Religions should be Private unfortunately this isn't the case as we often have crappy politicians talking about there Religious Beliefs, no one gives a crap!

No Public Displays of Religion, No Problem. All Religions by there nature are Destructive and they just don't belong in Mainstream society.

BTW I'm a Second Generation Immigrant yet I'm not trying to convert people to my Religion, if you want to Sign Up they know where to come :)

In times where you can be fined for putting up a St. George flag, or forced to take it down to avoid offending ethnic minorities...I say to the woman who taking this veil case to Europe...when you go you can effing stay there! And then she can campaign for free ferry trips for all the others who take her side on this matter.

It really annoys me when they start all the complaints against this country, it's 'racist' population...you don't like it leave. When they refuse to integrate, refuse to learn our language, but happy to leech off our society...it's pull the pin and stand back time. I saw a group of people on the news the other day saying say they'll never relax any Muslim traits as all other religions are inferior...well go to where Muslims are the majority and you won't have to.

Would anyone here go to Pakistan/India/Turkey etc. and campaign about Christian rights and how you're being victimised by the Muslim majority.....you'd be stoned to death....and then eaten..maybe.

:)

Who told you not to? Police, Courts, who?

Also what did they say would happen if you didn't listen to them, you're just passing on Media Scare mongering, plenty of people had flags out and up at the World Cup and every other Major Event.

So who was it that stopped you?

WACCOE

Knowone stopped me.

But during the World Cup, all people who have come over here to live started complaining didn't they, saying that they found it racist etc etc.

I dunno why im telling you this, as you know it already, you're just been an ass.

I don't know this...That was just stupid media bull crap. A Stupid Muslim MP or Liberal Looney mentions and the Media are on it like "White on Rice" as it where.

Unless they change the Law, Temporary injunction. Don't believe there are plenty of people here who love this country the rest are stupid.

You have the Freedom of Expression and Speech so use it, be proud of who you are and were you come from and don't blame other people for your inability to do so.

Come on Ireland!!! :p

Seriously I might be an Irish Citizen but I'm as British as Most...and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I also think this is how alot (not all) of Second Generation Immigrants feel.

There is the few and the minority that seem to think that somehow that this Country has done them wrong, and I can understand how this must frustrate the "natives".

See the problem with Immigration is it's never the First Generation Immigrants that are the problem, they know why they are here. Normally looking for Work like my Parents but they would never go back this is Home.

The problem is Second Generation Immigrants as they are neither British or Pakistani/Indian/Irish Whatever it might be. So they are often the problem, they are currently in no-mans land. So they often swing one of both ways loyalty to their new home (UK) or the Heritage (Their Native Country) and its very easy for this to be manipulated to meant certain peoples extreme political agendas.

Respect your new home, We celebrate St. Patrick's Day but I don't drag my Neighbours along and force them to celebrate it aswell. :p

That's the only problem with this country is misunderstanding.

^^^ I'd only read it if you were bored!

ive been reading this thread and like to comment on why they take saint georges or union jacks down, its because the national front use it asa sybol and have twisted it for their own use, i still think its wrong to take it down but that is the reason anyway.

They have came over here demanding change from us British people so they will feel more comfortable and less "racially suppressed", but arent willing to change anything about themselves, for example removing a Veil, THAT annoys me very much

Truplaya83

What annoys me is that if an English woman goes to a muslim country they have to wear a veil or fear prosecution. People in this country are free to do what they like, which is great but there has to be give and take.

Communities moving to this country and segregating themselves further by not learning the language or pushing our laws with their faith is not a good thing and will only cause a larger racial divide.
