Haha yes, finally an end to the PS3 fanboys trying to brag about the 60GB hard drive.

My prediction is the 20GB will drop to around $40-50, then the 100GB will come out at $100, because everyone knows memory is that cheap anyway.

Blaze Lord

That puts a hard drive in competition with a memory unit. Don't see that happening, really.

What it says:

Yesterday, we posted about a grainy picture apparently announcing the 100 GB HD for the Xbox 360. A couple German 360 sites Spidey sense started tingling? Does that add up?

So they contacted Boris Schneider-Johne, Germany's Major Nelson. He says, via Babelfish:

"Yes, about two and a half thousand people sent to me a link to that, in which one sees a photographed powerpoint slide, featuring a non removable disk on which someone stuck 100 GB in an Arial font.

Come on, you know Microsoft presentations. How many times have you been to GC? Would this company announce a product in such a ragged manner? Quote: No large non removable disk is announced."

So there you go. But the Germans have been known to be duplicitous.

They probably will bring one out eventually though.

Where did D say it was real? Also Dcontrol can be wrong.

Check the news link again.

Because the link to your story in your post was about a photoshopped picture of a powerpoint slide taken in an obscure southeast Asian event, with the claim that it was an 'announcement' and not a mistake. Furthermore, it was later revealed that the text accompanying the 80GB number didn't mention anything about increased capacity, showing that the chances of it being genuine were slim to none. It was a fake story then.

This new story is about a very high res screenshot of a large hdd seemingly in use, at a major event, with the claim that this was a slipup and no announcement made. Since MS has always been denying, and still does, the denial and apparent accidental nature of the leak is more compelling then the one you pointed to.

someone said its fake, but 360Monster has an article (on the 100Gb drive, which D posted a ling to in the 2nd post), does 360monster (proper section, not forum) post rumours, or just fact?

(hope that cleared it up)

Click the link and read the post again. Really pay attension to the last bit in the article. The article is real but just because it's on 360M front page it doesnt mean it's true. You may think why would a writer for this site say that but it's just like papers/tv/interent. Believe what you want to believe. It didn't come from the horses mouth so it's speculation/rumour.

Bigcon100

ok, so do i. but i think a 50gb would be better, noone can (easily, without the use of videos) fill 100Gb

Ah, my mistake. I was too lazy to check to see what the Dcontrol example was. I just assumed that Dizzy revived this thread because there is a new rumor about a bigger capacity HDD, which is what I was referring to.

Anyways, I'd rather have a 100 than a 50, given the new Marketplace movies and tv shows.

any way about movies of the market place Blaze Lord when you buy them you keep them for a day then they get returned it like renting it out not buying it so then if you want to watch it again you have to pay AGAIN adn DOWNLOAD it AGAIN

Larger Hard Drive is pointless they should just let us exchange files via the Network that way you can watch Trailers and view and even Edit Themes on your PC or Mac.

If they did release a larger Hard Drive either it's going to cost a huge amount or the price of the 20Gb will be depleted so much making alot of people . I think Networking is the only viable solution and one that should be seriously considered.

Hell I'd even pay for the Software to enable it!

That's only for movies, not tv shows, and that's only for right now. Because of the survey that was recently linked, Microsoft seems to be considering having you have full download rights for movies. Unfortunately, because of the MPAA, the price will be $20 for full downloads. Still, it's something they're considering, and I would imagine will happen.

Yeah, the 20 GB would have a drop in price, but I don't see this as a bad thing. Value depletion is something that happens with electronics all the time, and while it's obvious (from this forum? ;)) that gamers are a whiny bunch, I hope that Microsoft will just tell such whiners to shove off, and deal with the fact that bigger and better accessories are a natural part of growth.

Editing Themes is simply not going to happen, especially in the near future. MS doesn't want to give up a low-cost Marketplace revenue stream. Besides, if you really want, you can get a SATA to move files back and forth. I imagine the free trailers and videos don't have DRM, so you might even be able to watch them on your PC.

The biggest problem with coming out with a new hard drive is transfering stuff over from your old one.

really?!?! if you d'load vids shows + movies + stuf, wont you just delete most of them after you've watched them?

(would you consider the movie rental service in that questionaire?)

Blaze Lord
14/Nov/06, 08:05 PM
If you payed for it, why would you delete it before you have to?

Bigcon100
14/Nov/06, 08:10 PM
if it was aone off thing (erm.. like the film of MS's X06 presentation). why would you watch it mre than once, you would already know all the stuff in it?

[ok, apparently some people do want a 100gb hdd, and could fill it]

Blaze Lord
14/Nov/06, 08:18 PM
Using a most obscure example to prove your point isn't going to win this one. If you download Pulp Fiction or the episodes of Firefly, trust me, you don't watch those just once. So, yes, there are some things you might delete. But you wouldn't be paying for an X06 presentation! You'd be paying for the last episode of BSG.

Bigcon100
16/Nov/06, 06:10 PM
ok, fine, obviously you + toby will but can can fill 100gb hdd. i still think 90% of people wont + couldnt. including me.

I agree but I think a better solution is....

Save Downloaded Content like Game Trailers, Game Videos and Downloadable TV Shows across a Local Network onto your PC or Mac providing unlimited storage. :)

Feck this buying Rip-Off Hard Drives!

Bigcon100
16/Nov/06, 06:26 PM
can you do that????? store stuff on your comp?

(ps. i will stick will 20gb!)

No it's my solution then you could use your Hard Drive for Gamesaves and Demo's and use your PC's, Mac's Servers, etc to store your Audio and Video files including those from Xbox Live Marketplace and be able to stream them across your entire network including onto your Xbox 360

Depends how you look at it....

20Gb Hard Drive - £60

200Gb PC Hard Drive - Imagine the amount of Downloadable TV Shows people could have, and movies they could store via Xbox Live Marketplace they would defiantly make more than £60.... As people would be more incline to download more if they didn't have to worry about the space on there HArd Drive.
