View Full Version : Anyone else hate the drink driving adverts?
It's 5PM. I could be eating my dinner but I'm not.
I have just seen another stupid drink driving advert. A guy falls off a building and smack on the floor with blood coming out his head. Nice... just real nice.
How is this going to stop drink driving?
"I'm so drunk right now... I'm going home. Oh wait... I'm really really drunk but some reason I can still remember a advert. I won't be driving home now!"
I don't have a car so don't worry about me drink driving.

If it stops just one person from drink driving and hurting or killing someone then its worth it in my book.
Shame on you Tob3z :(
not at 5 PM. I dont want to see blood coming out of a guys head on TV at that time. I wouldn't want my little sister to see it and if I had kids I sure as hell wouldnt want them seeing it.

I think that particular advert was supposed to be a warning about binge drinking.

You seen the new one about binge drinking? The one where the guys thinks hes some kind of superhero and climbs up some scaffolding for a balloon I think it was and then falls off. If anything I think this encourages people to do daft things on scaffolding now. You only need one idiot to do it and the rest will follow suit.
The adverts do serve a purpose though so it isn't a negative thing.

Its' shock tactics...and I applaud it.
There should be more adverts like it..instill those visions into kids heads well in advance of them having drinking opportunities and it may have some positive effects.

I think it's good.
They should show them more often. Especially now it's coming up to Christmas.

They're shown for a reason, them adverts could stop someone from getting drunk, drive and run me over. ;)
Im not saying they shouldnt be shown. I just dont want to see some guy get his head cracked open when Im about to eat food.

You should be eating at the dinner table not in front of the TV.

yes they are sick but im all for them...
one of my best mates sisters was run down by a drink driver, these adverts try to give you an insight into what damage can be caused by drink driving and it should be shown at prime time so more people can wtach it
nothing wrong with em IMO

People finish work and what do they do on the way home? Call in the pub for a pint. I do, one pint of guiness, a chat with the lads them home all chilled out ! I've actually been caught for drink driving, 2 year ban and £400 fine, not good i know. Anyway the drink driving adverts/signs/ i think are a great, i still see guys in the pub drinking 3,4,5 plus pints and driving home(N) Like someone said above if it stops a death/deaths then yes they should be shown anytime.

I can see were your coming from on the Drink Driving one but as was pointed out these ones are about Binge Drinking.
Basically alot people drink way past there limits and it's at that point when it isn't funny any more, I haven't got a problem with people drinking more than the recommended but some people just don't know when to stop.
Hopefully this might be able to educate these people to thinking it through first. Probably won't though :(
I knew plenty of people who unfortunately aren't around any more after going out "celebrating", one in-particular one died after the birth of his first child which he was at the Pub Celebrating. Died of asphyxiation on his Vomit.
Not always the fault of the individual but more of a social culture that has developed.
Edit: On a lighter note, Deaths on the Road and Drinking related Deaths are higher than Drink Driving Deaths. So in theory you have a better chance of survival if you Drink and Drive :p
i dont like em but the advert you are talking about in the first post is about binge drinking
Is binge drinking getting rat arsed?
Just realised why everyone is talking about drink driving adverts... then looked at my thred title. LOL I don't know why I put that there. Yeh I'm not on about the drink driving adverts. But that superman one I just find a little wrong. It's just the end part when hes having some spasm and the blood out of his head. Would be banned in germany LOLZ
