Cancer Overdose Girl Lisa Dies At 16
A teenage cancer patient who was given a massive overdose of radiation earlier this year has died. Lisa Norris, 16, was given 17 overdoses during treatment in January. Human error was blamed for the radiation overdose during her treatment for a brain tumour at the Beatson Oncology Centre in Glasgow.
Surely this is manslaughter? does anyone else agree?
Obesity linked to lack of childhood sleep
Rising levels of obesity may be linked to a lack of sleep in childhood, researchers have claimed.
Children and adolescents are getting fewer hours of sleep than they used to and this affects the levels of hormones that control appetite and energy expenditure, the study found.
I read in the Metro some expert said the kids are obese due to the fear of paedophiles, what that means I really don't know, but are they just making excuses? the kids are fat because they eat fatty foods and don't do exercise, how many excuses must we find for them?
Boy's father slams Madonna critics
The biological father of the 13-month-old boy that Madonna wants to make part of her family has criticised human rights groups who have challenged the move.
Yohane Banda said he had entrusted his son David to a Malawian orphanage after his wife died of childbirth complications, saying he was too poor to raise him alone.
Now, he says, Madonna has given the boy a chance to have a family.
"Where were these people when David was struggling in the orphanage? These so-called human rights groups should leave my baby alone," he said.
"As father I have okayed this, I have no problem. The village has no problem. Who are they to cause trouble? Please let them stop."
Agree/disagree? what makes everyone think Madonna will be the best option? sure she has money, but what does that matter? I am sure I read somewhere that she only lets her kids watch TV for an hour every day or something.
Should you be allowed to just hand over your own kid to someone else? apparently she didn't even go through the proper procedures, and how someone can enter a country and walk out with a baby in a few weeks is ridiculous, could I go and do the same? hardly think so.
Why didn't "Madge" go and pick up the wee man herself, she had to send a minder as if it was some sort of package, this is a little kid we are talking about, she doesn't even have the decency to look after him an hour after he enters the country.
I made this thread for people who like to whine about the news, which to say the least is sometimes idiotic hence makes good debate.

Dunno what your UK definition of manslaughter there is, but it doesn't seem like there was criminal intent in the hospital's actions. Malpractice, negligence, but not manslaughter.
It makes sense that sleep is tied into metabolism, and clearly metabolism does have an impact on weight. Whether or not you can claim a causal relationship remains to be seen. From what you're quoting, it seems as though the researchers are just giving a plausible reason for the link they found, and I don't doubt that there is a link between sleep and weight. The fear of pedos seems a little far out, I agree with you there. But I would guess that this latter statement isn't based on real science at all, whereas the former statement seems to be ground in solid science practices.
So.. You're saying that allowing only an hour of TV is irresponsible parenting..? That's gotta be the first time I've heard that.

Once is an accident 17 times should result in criminal negligence charges being brought - someone must put their hand up and be accountable for this young girl losing her life.

I agree with BL about it being more a case of malpractice and negligence rather than manslaughter.
Kids well they do tend to eat too much junk food so I'm not surprised in the obesity levels quite frankly. I don't get that much sleep either.
As for the last one I'm sure that kid will have a better quality of life with Madonna than he would have had in Malawi. Different parents have different rules and I don't see that tv rule being a big issue. I'd rather my kids to go and do some sport or something rather than sit around watching tv for hours on end. And if I had kids they would be banned from touching my 360 too. Its bad enough the missus uses it.
The unlawful killing of one human by another without express or implied intent to do injury.
That is what manslaughter stands for, to put it blunt; murder without intent.
Obviously they didn't intend on killing the kid but they did, if I punched someone and they fell and cracked open there head and died I am pretty sure I would be done with manslaughter.
She had to suffer 17 bouts of it, someone has to pay the price, she did after all.

Nope didn't say that, my point was just because someone has money it doesn't make them a perfect parent, kids shouldn't live in a prison, aka never getting to go out etc, I am sure the kid had more freedom in Malawi than he would in the UK under her "guidance" but we will see what happens in the future.

Whoa. Where did you get never allowed to go out from? That's certainly different from not watching more than an hour a day of TV. In fact, it seems as though those two are in opposition. Any new sources you can link to? And I'm not sure being in an orphanage in one of the world's poorest countries would give a kid a lot of positive freedom.
Voluntary manslaughter does require criminal intent, at least in the US. Perhaps not intent to murder, or not premeditated intent to murder, but there was intent to harm.
Involuntary manslaughter is where we classify recklessness and criminal negligence.

She apparently sets high standards for Lourdes, 9, and Rocco, 5, and they are, if reports are correct, banned from any contact with both junk food and junk television .
And if it’s true that, as reported, Madonna has never changed a nappy, not regarding that as part of the proof of being a good parent, then she is in the company of plenty of men.
I can't say I have heard about kids being banned from eating junk food and watching "junk" tv, isn't this what being a kid is all about?
Anyway that has nothing to do with anything really so just forget I mentioned it, but I just can't understand how someone can act like this, she has a nanny to do all her dirty work and personal aides for the same thing.
She "opened her heart" about adopting the kid yet couldn't be ersed picking him up? she loves kids yet can't be ersed looking after them like ANY mother should, yet she flies off to China to sing songs while dressed like a prostitute.
And apparently while the kid was being "delivered" to her home by her personal "slaves" she was off to the gym, not the actions of a happy women in my eyes, if I had an adopted kid coming from another country I would be over the moon.
Anyway lets see how it pans out, after all this is the "mum" who won't let he kids eat junk food or watch "junk" tv yet they can see their amazing mum dressed up as a prostitute on stage or hang from a crucifix at the age of 40+, yeah makes alot of sense.

On the other hand, I doubt being in an orphanage in Malawi allows a kid alot of 'junk' television or food to begin with. They have a mean income of less than a dollar a day, and presumably children in an orphanage are forced to live on far less.
You might not disagree with her parenting style, but I think it's a stretch to argue the kid is worse off with her. She's far from abusive. Worse things have happened to a kid than being the adopted child of an overprotective primadonna.
What you fail to realise is he was with family, personally I would rather live poor but with my family than move to England with someone I don't know yet has enough money to buy me a PS3.
He had freedom aswell, he could go outside and play with the other kids, could he do that in England? WOULD he be allowed to do that in England? no and maybe no.
I can't see the kid being happy about being cornered by the pap everywhere he goes, and seeing as he is now the adopted son of a famous ho this will happen, so he will just be another prisoner in the country.
How do we know she isn't abusive? I just hope she lets the kid have a life, well not her, but her nanny.

If you honestly think he's better off in an orphanage in one of the world's poorest countries, I don't think we'll ever see eye to eye on this.
So he's better off locked up in some mansion being taking care of by a nanny while being treated like an inmate? ok then.
Sex offender convicted of raping girl
A known paedophile has been found guilty of snatching a six-year-old girl from her bath and raping her before dumping her naked in an alley.
Peter Voisey, 35, of Blyth, Northumberland, was convicted at Newcastle Crown Court on Friday of abduction, rape and sexual assault.
I seriously think everyone in the local coomunity should be aware that a known paedophile is living in their area, for all they know they could be letting there kids play in his garden and it's absolutely sickening how they can live in freedom while the victim lives in shock.
Another thing, how is it fair that McCartney has to dish out half his earnings to his moronic wife? how can it be fair that a man has worked for the past 30 years while looking after her for the entire time they were married, who paid for the house? who paid for her car? who put the food on the table? and HE has to give her HALF of his fortune?
It's a god damn disgrace, I can honestly say I have never heard of the same happening for the opposite sex, aka a guy netting a good fortune because he divorced his rich wife, if ANYONE has please show me as I would really love to see it.
