View Full Version : So you want cheap XBLA games?

I did not write this tutorial, I am just posting it, I have no clue if it works as I haven't tried it myself, so I can't answer any questions you may have.... anyway:

_____________________________________________

I have taken his from cheapassgamer.com and then made it easy to read. They made it so easy that only n00bs would understand. It is basically an exact copy with anything which is very very obvious taken out and colours put in. This was the only way I could really understand it.

Don’t read this if you don’t have a friend who has a 360 and neither of you have a memory card.

If you and your mate like XBLA games of game content but would rather pay half for each thing this is the way to do it. I allows you to share the content you have paid for.

I always knew there was a way when my mate came round with his 360 one time... but I never knew it could be done like this. I am also not sure if it works with downloaded content.

Part 1: Getting the Content on Red guys Xbox 360
· blue guy takes his profile and moves it to the MU
· blue guy puts it in red guys 360
· Sign into blue guys profile and into XBL
· Download the game you want and save it to the HDD
· Sign blue guy out
· Sign in with red guy
· Play the game that was just downloaded. red guys now has a fully featured Xbox Live Arcade Game including Achievements and online play. In fact, any profile that signs into red guys Xbox 360 will be able to play the fully featured Xbox Live Arcade Game.

Part 2: Using the Content on Blue guys Xbox 360
· Insert blue guys Memory Unit into blue guys Xbox 360.
· If blue Xbox 360 is not powered on, power on blue guys Xbox 360.
· Sign in blue guys Live Profile.
· Go to the Xbox Live Marketplace and find the Xbox Live Arcade game blue guy downloaded on red guys Xbox 360.
· Re-Download the Xbox Live Arcade game. This will not cost any Marketplace Points since blue guy has already bought this game.
· Play the game that was just downloaded. Blue guy now has a fully featured Xbox Live Arcade Game including Achievements and online play. The game is also still fully functioning on red guys Xbox 360. Blue guy and red guy can even play online multiplayer with each other for games that support that feature.

Part 3: Using the Content of blue guys Xbox 360 with Other Profiles

(This section can also be used to take your profile to another person’s house and allow them to play the full versions of Xbox Live Arcade Games under their Profile and earn Achievements on their Xbox 360.)

Minimum Requirements:
1. More than 1 Xbox 360 controller
2. More than 1 Xbox 360 profile (it does not matter if it is an actual Live profile or whether it is just a local profile, but all features associated with the level of that profile still apply). For these instructions, we will just use green guy as the other profile.

The Actual Steps:
· Using controller #1, sign in green guys Profile.
· Using controller #2, sign in blue guy Xbox Live Profile
· Using controller #1, play the Xbox Live Arcade Game. green guy is now playing the fully functioning game including Achievements. If blue guy signs out, the game will return to Demo form.

Disclaimers:

1. If red guys Xbox 360 breaks, the games on his console are lost. This is true even if red guys just replaces the “Core Xbox 360 unit” and is still able to use the Hard Drive from the original Xbox 360. The content is tied to the console itself and not just the hard drive.
This is a potential downfall in the way Marketplace Content is protected and not an issue that arises strictly from the procedures outlined above. Just ask anyone who has had to have their Xbox 360 repaired and then comes to find out that when they re-download their games that none of the other profiles can use the content anymore! (See “Using Content on blue guys Xbox 360 with Other Profiles” above for the workaround.)

2. The Xbox Live profile that purchased the content will not be able to play it on his/her Xbox 360 without being signed into Xbox Live. This is closely related to Disclaimer #1.

i thought it said in the instructions it's locked to the console not the HDD therefore surely can't be moved to the MU in the first instance before being placed and saved onto the second consoles HDD?

or am i wrong completely :$

Lol you didnt read it. You dont copy the game to the MU. You can if you want as it saves downloading it on your 360.

Play the game that was just downloaded. Blue guy now has a fully featured Xbox Live Arcade Game including AchievementsThe game is also still fully functioning on red guys Xbox 360.

I found this quite funny, OF COURSE he now has the game, He paid for the damn thing even if it was using "Red guy's" 360. So someone has to pay up, Its not a 'Cheap" XBLA Game its a free game for your friend and vise versa. Add to the fact that the poor bloke who did pay for it can't even play it when offline.

you move the profile to the MU

which in turn contains the game?

"The content is tied to the console itself and not just the hard drive."

maybe it would be able to work then :$

bugger

Then it doesn't concern you. Most people have always on broadband though. So when I switch my 360 on I am always online.

EDIT: Also the profile doesnt contain the game. A profile is just... a Username if you like

EDIT AGAIN: Also Killer you could say your friend get's it free. But most friends work in the way of "I will get this round, you can get the next". At least that's what my friends are like. I buy a round of drinks. Then my mates does. Works out at about the same price.

Look, you seem to struggle so much, it's pointless reading it, as it written in a fairly basic tutorial.

You only move your profile to the MU, the game stays on your xbox, your profile contains data on what games you've unlocked. That's why you can re-download it for free on other people's xbox's, or if you delete it by accident.

I can see something that MS will fix soon.

I've seen this tutorial on a few sites tonight and while I think this is a great find it also is illegal in some way. It has to be.

The item you are trying to download is subject to usage restrictions. You can use this item on the first Xbox 360 console that you used to download it. Access to this item will also be granted to all users on this first console. If you transfer the item using a memory unit or other storage device, you will also be able to use it on other Xbox 360 consoles, but you’ll need to sign in to Xbox Live with your Xbox Live account on that console before accessing the item.

Pfft. When that changes then they can call it illegal.
