I support the Gunners, but I don't follow up on them all that much.

I really only follow Real Madrid in Europe. Se here is my breakdown:

We're obviously contenders for the League Title, and the start of the season I have mixed feelings about it, we have won most of our games, but we still don't have an identity yet. Cannavaro has been safe in the back often times showing some of his brilliance that he had in Germany, but as Lyon showed, we are still vulnerable in the back. Van Nistelroy has been quick to settle in, rarely missing scoring opportunities. The real shinning spot has been the acquisition of Jose Reyes, who has been fantastic, and will push Beckham to the next level as both will compete for the position. I am counting down the Days until Next Sunday, the big one, Real Madrid Vs Barcelona, that will put it all on the table.

As far as the Mexican league goes, Chivas are going to have to fight to make the playoffs, its going to be a close race, it will come down to the final game. Even if we don't make it, at least we beat America!

"Chelsea keeper Petr Cech has undergone surgery for a depressed fracture of the skull after he was injured during the Blues' 1-0 win at Reading on Saturday.

The 24-year-old collided with Reading's Stephen Hunt in the first minute of the game at the Madejski Stadium.

Cech was transferred to the Radcliffe Infirmary's specialist neuro-surgical unit in Oxford on Saturday night.

"The operation was successful but it is too early for an accurate assessment of his condition," said a Blues statement."

and ouch...

both keepers knocked out in one game and they still win the damn game

I think Keane will do very well with Sunderland, even if it does take a season or two to get things right. Personally I think that Sunderland weren't a Premiership team, but I think Keane has the knowledge to sort out the squad and get them playing properly to challenge for the Fizzy Pop.

Myself, I'm a Portsmouth fan, and am obviously rather chuffed about whats going on down here at the moment. Won't last I tell you, but always nice to dream isn't it? Got a good mix of youth and experience (and a few OAPs) so I can't see why we can't finish top 10 this season.

Based on the last few months of football who do you think will be most likely for the drop this season? I hate to say it but unless West Ham sort themselves out they might be going down.

I am also a Leeds fan. (Y)

Got my first season ticket when I was 4, and sat in the same seat for 9 seasons...which is some going.

After the 9 years were up, (about 4 season ago now :o) I stopped going, 1) because the prices were too high to watch mediocre football and 2) my Dad refused to go becasue they were so bad.

It's sad really, what we are like now.

But I have a season ticket for Leds Rhinos now instead, as I have fallen in love with Rugby League.

Yeah, We have 3 season tickets for Leeds United but both me and my dad sometimes have to work, my brother, mates will come along or my girlfriend will come with me.

I've been watching Rhino's for a couple of years too! (Y) I firmly believe we've got a great youth setup which will see us dominate RL for years to come. Although injuries haven't helped us this year it was Saints year from the off but they won't repeat it without Lyon.

Personally ive felt from the start that providing pompy can do a wigan of last season, keep concentration and get points on the board early, i honestly feel they will finish top 10. Harry's made some brilliant signings, even if the majority are old players, they still get the job done, and very well for that fact. the likes of campbell who has been solid so far, and Kanu, what an unbelieveable start for him, ive allways rated the guy but he realy has uped his game.

As for the drop, well i dont think reading are gonna go, i think they are gonna be this seasons wigan. personaly id say shefield united, watford, and as for the last spot, i couldnt realy say. but i do feel that wigan are gonna have a realy tough season. they did it once and stayed up, but i feel the league has, to some extent got used to them, and they just dont have the same confidence as they did last season, considering theyve lost a few of their best players, including Jimmy ( Legend ) Bullard, who was pure class for them last season.

Rhinos or United? :P I don't have a Rhinos season ticket but i get to enough of the games tend to miss the games like Salford, Cas, Wakey the teams that don't really matter! xD South stand is where we go.

Possibly get one for United, however the opportunity might come along at work which would mean I'd have to move away. But it would be in the cop. Lower tier behind the goal, at the back of the N4 section or the front of N9/N10.

Either way would give you a shout to see if you are off along if you wanted to get a pint or summat!

Surely the best goal scored this season would be either

Matty Taylors against Everton
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukWXif4UiGs

Or Van Persies volley against Charlton

I think you have to have played football and attempted a lot of volleys to really appreciate just how special that goal is.

That was a nice volley, I think its because hes hit it first time, And its driven, he seems to know exactly where its going, where as the Matty Taylor one could be called a fluke due to how high it goes before looping over Howard.

It is though. No decent ties. Best teams in it all getting home draws. I mean, Chelsea - Forest, had it been at Forest, would of been a quality match, but now it's just meh, another 6-1'er coming up for Chelsea. For example.

Joe
08/Jan/07, 09:26 PM
I doubt it'll be 6-1, Forest are a good side. As long as they don't have to put an outfield player in goal. Still reckon Chelski will win though.

I was watching Sky Sports News a bit earlier and apparently Graeme Souness has made an approach/offer to buy Wolves.

He has offered the amount wanted by it's Chairman - £20million. But it's a case of Wolves saying no-one and him has offered anything and Souness saying he has put his own money up front.

Souness must have made a tidy penny as a manager (as in his days wages werent as good as now)...prob the millions he took via a payoff from the Toon. Why that clube never learns i dont know!

Anyway's what do folk think?

well souness trained benfica in the 90' and he did a pretty bad job, the image I have of him it's aimage of failure.

AfroJoe
09/Jan/07, 06:14 PM
Maybe he'd be different as an owner, but he's a rubbish coach. Has had failure everywhere except with Rangers, but when he was manager there it was impossible to fail anyway, because there was literally no decent opposition.

With all the money floating about in English Football no club should ever go into Administration. The directors must take a long hard look at themselves as they have now paid the ultimate price.

Unless there is a buyout I can see Leeds languishing in the lower leagues for quite some time.

Man Utd win the EPL yet again. So much for having the best league in the world when its the same 4 teams at the top of the league year in your out.

It's like that in most leagues...

AfroJoe
07/May/07, 02:37 PM
Not really. Besides Everton nicking 4th place a few years ago, stuff like that usually never happens in the Premiership, when it does in Italy and Spain.

In addition to the big names, over the last few years in Spain, we've had Real Sociedad (2nd), Real Betis (4th), Osasuna (4th) and this year Sevilla (currently 2nd), taking a spot in the Champions League from the usual contenders. And that's only going back 5 or 6 years. I can't remember any team doing the same in the Premiership other than Everton taking a spot in the Champions League.

PublicEnemy#1

The spanish league is very unprodictible as all the major are iver goin down or in the wrong side of the table. I really thought Portsmouth were goin to end up in the top 4 this season after the start they got off to.
