Hopefully YouTube will remain unchanged and continue to provide us with the fine selection of random videos we receive today.

Someone is about to become a hell of lot richer.

That's pretty cool I guess, I'm glad it's Google and no one else as they have extraordinary services.

"YouTube will retain its brand" .............. I'm guessing that answers your question

How could Google get anything from this website, it's 100% free isn't it? and not bad for whoever started this site, Google are slowly taking over the web :)

yup they will, but still the combination of the 2 companies should see great things for both.

Not sure how they can collect revenue on the site, even through just ads, and not face serious copyright/licensing issues.

Exactly what I was thinking, but the site must have a million hits a day and they must all click on the ads, even doing this it would take ages to even get your money back, plus all the costs of hosting etc....

Why someone paid so much for a video site is baffling, I'm sure you could buy a better AND bigger company for the same price, or better yet give me it

Why not?

YouTube currently have Ads on the Site, why would this be different for Google when they take it over.

Some interesting deals Google and You Tube have signed with CBS, Warner, Sony BMG and others might also help revenue for the site.

Really? I guess I don't use YouTube enough. I always thought it was in a grey area because they had no revenue and were just going into the red like no one's business.

Well. It's the beginning of the end, I think

"With more media companies signaling that they will come after YouTube for compensation over copyrighted material, Moukarbel's experience suggests that some of those among the Web site's 40 million users who post copyrighted material can expect legal trouble."

YouTube's taking down copyright material and telling the copyright owners who the poster is. They're also collecting data on who watches the material.

I can't get that link of yours to work BL. I'll try it later on in the day as it says "cannot find the server" all the time.

It's another example of our stupid swear filter messing it up. the site is market watch.com withouth the space. Yes, that's right, the filter has decided to ruin yet another link because it doesn't like T_W_A_T.
