........... every time i want to play xbox live i have to connect a wire running from my bedroom all the way downstairs into my router. I have a laptop which is working wirelessly with the router. I decided to purchase the £60 official wireless adapter for x360 and now i need to know how to connect it up. Ive tried for ages and ages and it still doesnt work any ideas?

Heres a few info,

Broadband: Wanadoo/Orange 1mb
Router: Speedtouch 580
Adapter: Official Xbox360 adapter.

Any help is appreciated

I haven't used 360 Wireless Network Adapter, but I bieleve it's easier to do if first you make your Wireless network "unsecure" then let your 360 find it, then make the network "secure" again.

Sorry if that sounds a bit vague, but thats as much as I know on the subject :(

do you have to enter a password to connect to your wireless router?
have you entered that into your xbox?
what does the tests say on your 360? eg link status and ip address etc?

Here (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907602) is the official Wireless Network Adaptor support from MS.

Hope this helps :)

Yes make it unsecure first then let it connect, then put the security back up making a note of any WEP/Keys that you'll then need to enter into your 360 Network settings to allow it access to the router. You may need to enter your 360 IP address in to the approved IP's of your router config too...not for certain some just use the MAC address instead.

Well, you're gonna have to do a couple of things. Just to be safe, add the console's wired MAC address and the adapter's to your router's address filtering list. Don't ask me why, but I think the Xbox's weirdo connection software uses the console's address. Put in your WEP or WPA keys into the 360's setup. That should just about do it.
