I've read that the 360 can upscale DVD's to 720p?
I've downloaded High-Def video's off xbox live arcade (720p) and they look amazing. (i.e. you can see the thread patern on Peter Moore's tie {e3 coverage})
Yet when I watch a DVD they look pants compared to games and hi def vid's. Is this actualy an upscaled 720p image?
I'm using a 19" 720p capable Computer Monitor through an official VGA cable by the way.
Cheers guys (Y)

as they say `you cant polish a turd'. If the source is not high-def there is nothing the 360 or any other video device can do to genuinely make it better.

You know in the "Fall Update" as they call it are they including the upscaling in that along with the 1080p for VGA

Upscaling's still an improvement. But, uh.. Glidem will have to confirm this, but if I had to guess? Only with the VGA cable can you upscale past 480p.
In fact, http://www.xboxic.com/news/1687

Component:
HD-DVD: max 1080i (thanks to AACS)
DVD: upscaled to max 480p (thanks to CSS)
Games: 720p upscaled to 1080p, maybe in the future there will be 1080p native games.
VGA:
HD-DVD: max 1080p.
DVD: upscaled to max 1080p.
Games: 720p upscaled to 1080p, maybe in the future there will be 1080p native games.
Thats what we needed...Very clear now.
Cheers for ther Link Blaze
Looks as if VGA is the obvious choice now, well I've already got the cable just need a huge monitor to show it off.
