The Wii, To Buy or Not To Buy ?

The wii last gen graphics gameplay with a remote, what they mean is let's change the design, and we can fool everyone
use a bit of inavation and hey "presto" we can change a gamecube in to a, hang on a minute add a bit of online support
what we got is a wii.
Who remembers the ford cortina, they changed the design like the gamecube into the ford siera, exactly the same engine but
different body.:s

Basing this whole argument that the Wii is "too last-gen" on visuals is a bit stupid, to be honest.

Not everything revolves around graphics. The Wii is taking gaming too a whole new level. A whole new generation, if you like. And anyway, the visuals are said to be 2 or 3 times more powerful than the Gamecube or Xbox's - now to me, that seems perfectly adequate.

It's all about the gameplay, and personally, I can't wait.

He's got a point in a way...That they have innovated in other ways but it would of beeen alot better if it did have High Def Graphics

The Wii isnt as graphically advanced as say a 360 - but it has loads of new features such as the motion sensor remote/controllers and the usage of SD cards as mem (really good idea) and a sleepless internet connection with the ability to download nes, snes, n64 and sega megadrive/genesis back catalogue...so not really last gen eh? Dunno about 2 or 3 times as powerful, I could see that being true if you only looked at one, very specific spec, and I have no idea what that could be. So far all the gameplay videos I've seen seem very Xbox1, in terms of graphics.

On the other hand, it's gonna sell for way less than any of the either 2. It doesn't seem like something I'll get at launch, but it's in definite consideration for purchase later on.

That during-sleep internet connection seems, well. Pretty stupid, actually. The 360 uses enough power as it is during its standby mode, to think that the Wii is gonna download stuff when it's not on, and therefore when it doesn't even give me approval, let alone notification.. Dunno if I'm wowed by that idea.

The Wii can still provide some very nice graphics. I am still very happy with my Nintendo DS Lite with some of the graphics that it can provide. The Wii will concentrate heavily on gameplay and it isn't trying to compete with Xbox 360 and PS3, although graphically it should still be appealing. Don't forget there are still a lot of people without HD, but in the long term this is going to be a problem for the Wii as it becomes the dreaded 'bedroom console' for the kids....

You can see Nintendo desperately trying to encourage mature gamers lately as that really was a problem with the Gamecube, the kiddy image.

The Wii could still be a surprise hit, but at the moment I am not totally convinced with the controller and the ploy. We shall have to see as it is far to early to make an accurate verdict! Should be an exciting console war though!!!

Meh, I think you're off on this one Lee. Yes, it will have graphics that are only around two times more powerful then the Gamecube (which isn't too bad when you think about it), but there are a lot of new innovations that the other consoles with the good graphics won't have.

You have a 360 anyway, so why do you need another console with super-dee-dooper graphics?

Edit: Just saw Far Cry on the Wii though.. looks like crap graphicswise. Thanks to this title alone I will be waiting to see what comes out of the bag. The first party titles do look nice, though :).

The DS didn't have the best graphics in the world but it had something and it worked and outsold PSP as a Handheld Console... So what's stopping the Wii doing the Same thing.

I plan on getting a Wii maybe not striaght away but soon after. However I'm not getting a PS3 as it doesn't offer me anything different.

Grahpics are the same as the gamecubes fact honestly i read on a daily basis itv1 teletext service go to entertainment and theres a service they have called gamecentral you can interact with them by emailing them.
Also they have alot of news of whats going on,they also have game journos working for them even right now in TGS, a guy
emailed them yesterday as there is an inbox on the screen anyway the guy asked what are the graphics like on the wii

The Dreamcast had online suport but nothing like Xbox live, Nintendo's up and coming product, hell even Sony's!

I have said that the Wii will not be as good as a 360 or PS3 in terms of graphics...what i have said is that it has features that a last gen console hasnt ie it's motion sensors ect. Xbox Live arcade was on xbox 1 - just it wasnt as advanced as now, infact the whole xbox 1 live service wasnt. So my ? to you...if you arent bothering with a Wii dont bother making threads on what's better, this is not etc when quite frankly you post threads without gaining any info to back up your claims. By the way the Dreamcast was a great console - it's online service not.

What you have to remember Graphics aren't everything? Simple as...You can have the best Graphics in the World but if the Gameplay is your'll never play it.

Simply Graphics come after Gameplay so if you have superb Gameplay there's nothing stopping it from being succesfull even if the grpahics are "" aka Nintendo DS plus the numerous amount of crap online/arcade/1980's games people still play.

Wii's graphics do not suck at all. Zelda looks great and Metroid looks great as well but they are still overshadowed by Gears of War, Lost Odyssey, Mass Effect and many other games, graphics wise anyway. Everyone says that gameplay is more important but I am sure a console can manage to do both right?

Yes i agree Big D your right there but iam only saying that the console it's self is not much of an upgrade infact the gamecube and wii are too similar apart from the new features.

I havent got a problem with you - it was just a debate but your ideas/posts in this thread are yours and yours only. Mine are mine and theirs are theirs. Just i notice that sometimes you are slammed by others for posting info that you dont back up your claims with. Nothing personal this is what these forums are for. But i will end this with the Wii is next gen, because next gen doesnt just mean graphics it's inovations like the controllers for the Wii! Infact Sony have copied their idea

Dreamcast was online the first console to have online gaming not the xbox.Infact i saw a program yesterday on bravo called gamer tv and the wii i must say is starting to grow on me.:)
