Why Do People Still Play Halo2!?

The Xbox 360 is here! why do you still play this rubbish when theres so many other better games out. Its so annoying to see someone *cough* Superbean lol to be playing halo all the time - thats all he plays he has so many 360 games and he never plays them Grrr..

Halo 2 is still one of the best games there is...

I'm yet to find an Online Shooter that matches it's Pace, it's Online Support, Varied Levels and May other Features. It's just a brillant FPS simple as.

I can still see why people are playing it, I'm actually going to be back playing it again soon....

Well, I still play Halo becuase imo it's one of the greatest Xbl titles out there if not the greatest. MM is great, customs are great and varied and there is a huge following.

I have many Friends that don't have a 360 yet, so I have to play Halo to play with them. And you still find games on tehre whereas later released titles (even on the 360) lack enought ppl to play it.

Yes, it has it's bad side, including host and cheaters, but overall it's good.

I'd probably be playing Halo 2 right now if I had my 360 or xbox hooked up to the net (waiting for my VGA cable so I can bring my 360 up to my PC) and I could get re-used to using a controller for a FPS.

I really wish someone you make a smartjoy frag thingy but for the 360, I know you can use keyboards and stuff with the 360 if they're USB but you need to fool the 360 into thinking they're controllers too :(

Halo 2 probably has the biggest online community I'd say of any xbox/360 game and you are more than likely guaranteed to get a match online. I haven't played it for months and I've stated why several times on this forum but people still think its one of the better games out there. I can't really say that it isn't. Sure its dated now in terms of graphics and the like but that still doesn't mean it can't be enjoyable. As with any game there are online idiots out there who are a small minority that like to make it a less enjoyable experience for the majority. Overall its a pretty solid title and people love playing it.

Because Halo 2 is a top quality game, one of the best on the previous xbox, has a great online mode, and he cant wait for halo 3 :)

Halo 2 is a great game online, it doesn't matter that it's on the xbox and not the 360, the depth of combat alone beats anything seen on the 360 so far.

I play halo2 cause i like it, so what if i play it on my 360 and loads of other people with 360's play halo2 aswell cause they enjoy the game.

um, well people had xboxes (plural?) before the 360, then they got a 360 WITH some 360 games, then they fancy playing halo 2, Which is a very worthy game to play. So they've got 2 choices.

Unhook the 360 and plug the old xbox in, power, get round the back of the TV etc.

The reason i wanted my 360 was for halo2 on live, before on the xbox1 it required credit cards which no one in ym family had so i was never able to play halo2 online. Im sure loads of people are the same.

I'm not also the only one who plays halo2 alot on this site, Jam Man and Wilkie play it all the time aswell so dont make a thread just to try and get people to mone about me playing halo2 daniel cause no one cares.

Halo 2 is still an online classic and should be played still! Just because we have a new next gen console, doesn't mean we should totally ignore past games. I would be quite happy to play many Xbox (1) games even though there are some very impressive titles on the 360.

Oh and don't forget the increased resolution to 720p, which does make Halo 2 look very good. Shame the textures look so low in HD though.

Agreed, and tbh I think the only game that's looking to dethrone Halo 2 is Halo 3.

Which is also my next big multiplayer title. It's the only one I can see living up to it and all other titles along the way just fill the gap really and provide a few hours of fun.

I just came off this game after doing some major ownage on a new account with Dcontrol.

The last game we had was insane, 2v2 BR on Acension, we took an early lead after I took out rocket guy with a nice nade and headshots, got rockets, gained a lead of around 7-2. Then things took a turn for the worse, Dcontrol wasn't able to play to the best of his ability after a 1 year break, so he couldn't get a kill unfortunatley. After dropping down to 22-12 it looked bleak for us, well, Dcontrol at least and decided he'd call it a night and went to play Bankshot Billiards. Without giving up, I took on 2 at once, over threw them both and once again was in control of rockets, with 2 and a half minutes remaining it seemed almost impossible to make a comeback, having to take on 2 people at once for every battle was hard work. To my surprise, one of them had accidently commited suicide, so now it was my chance to work on them in 1v1's, I now managed to get the scores tied on 22-22 with 30 seconds remaining. After running out of rockets, no 'nades and not much BR ammo anymore, I struggled to defend myself when I got rushed while I was searching for ammo. After dying it seemed all over, but suddenly I found myself being spawned quite close to the 2 but they were on the higher ground giving them the advantage, foolishly, one came down to my level which resulted in a close 1v1 with me coming out on top bringing it to a tie with 15 seconds remaining, when the other one came down with full health, I lobbed a grenade at the floor, and shot him a couple of times, he got the final headshot on me killing me. On the death screen, I saw him run straight into my grenade that he was unaware of, blowing him up followed by the words game over by the announcer.

Final score 24-23 to me.

And it was THEIR HOST!

Unless you were me that is. I'm really rusty with Halo 2 after not playing it for about a year maybe even more I'd say and it feels weird to me on the 360 pad. Never mind though we had a good couple of games and only lost on team slayer since our team mates kept quitting for some unknown reason. We were unbeaten at double team though :) At least Alan Partr1dge was on pwnage form.

I'd class neither Bf2 or COD2 as worthy replacements for Halo2. On Halo you have ranked/unranked MM/customs with so many options. And there isn't that much lag.

BF2 just is a no no for the servers.

It's definitely true: Halo2 is still the best online FPS around. But it's not just that; as a matter of fact, it's the best online FPS ever.

Everyone who has played H2 - and, of course, other online FPSs - can confirm it. Still, I put my hopes in Gears of War, which appears to have a stunning multiplayer: if it's even just one step behind Halo2, I'll definitely be spending A LOT of time on XBL.

In my opinion, it's the ultimate multiplayer experience.

A game developed to reach Halo2 popularity should:
1. Clone its MP system, fix it a little bit (maybe building some servers in Europe to reduce latency) and keep it free of hackers and cheaters; OR
2. Invent something that's totally new and unseen before.

Yeah, I second that. And the option to play customs, join customs as a party and then play some MM. And the variety in MM and the constant changes (although the new playlist isn't too great) are great.
