S-Pad or Original?

I was wondering who preferred the S-Pad? I refused to buy an Xbox when it came out with the original dinner plate sized pad.:geek:

Although the Original Controller was huge, it surprisingly fitted well into my hand and it felt good and wasn't heavy.

However it was Big and that kind of put me off it, So when the new controller came out I brought it. I still have the Original...Although I don't have the S-pad anymore. Lent it to mate for some reason he said he didn't want the Original I don't know why :D

i likedthe original it was designed soley to play halo, i used the s pad for everything else, i prefer the 360 pad to everything else

Original for FPS. Now though I poped in Max Payne 2 in my Xbox and I had to play it with the "S"

I liked the original `Duke' pad.

But I think MS has hit the nail right on the head with the design of the 360 joypad. A design masterpiece and comfortable to use for extended gaming sessions.

S-Pad, definitely. Slightly too small for my hands felt better than slightly too big.

Now that I have tabz and grips on my 360 controller, it feels perfect. Bulky in the right places, slightly squishy against my palms.

I used to like the original controller, however the controller 'S' was just perfect when it was released, although then came the 360 controller and that is just perfect but more so ;)

When the orginal controller came out i was like "wtf this is HUGE!", the S-Pad I think just showed the beginning of MS taking the first steps towards listening to feedback and acting upon it. I think that's one of MS strongest points in the gaming world.
I also think that was the turning point of their product design matters phase. Which led to the 360 being highly designed.. Which I don't think the Xbox was. It was more of a box with a big X shape on it.

Well ive never used the original pad because i got the S-PAD with my XBOX1 but it looks impossible to use cause its sOOO BIG.

Nothing beats the 360 controller, best controller ive used.

It's not dodgy, it just wasn't meant for SF2 type combos.

Phat you could pull seats up around it and have a family meal on it. It was that big! lol :)

The duke was a big old controller (a nightmare for kids to hold I'll bet) but I found it good for Halo 1 & 2 and if you ever were one to throw your joypad then you would have done some damage to whatever came into contact with this beast. It was the most durable joypad I've ever had. I still got one I think.

The S type was much slimmer and felt much more comfortable in your hand. Not only considerably lighter but they had moved the buttons around a bit. Not as durable in my opinion as the duke but overall a better layed out joypad.

So there ends my conclusion that the duke although a good enough joypad isn't as good as the S type. But if I was to maim someone I'd use the duke ;)

The big one isn't that bad imo, it takes some getting used to when you're used to the S-Pad because the white and black buttons, as well as the back and start buttons are in different places. As soon as you get over that you're fine, I quite liked it, it looks nicer too.

He means that this thread is on about the xbox controllers not the 360's. The xbox had 2 controllers released for it eventually and this thread is just to see which users preferred.

Well, no. The 360 pad is the same size as the S-Pad so I doubt they're going to try to make it smaller. There are plans for a new design, but I think thats going down the path of innovatation rather than redesign.

The origonal one made your hands sweaty,I couldn't even hold it properly without it slipping,must of been designed for people with big hands.
I was so glad then the S controller came out.

i had the S Pad, but for some1 reason at a ln at my m8s house (16 player halo on system link :D) i came home with the old pad for free. that was the best 2 day gaming session i ever had, was so funny :P
