You shouldn't have to open any ports yourself, when game launched for the 1st time your firewall should have popped up and asked you to approve access...that's it.

If he has a router that will need the correct ports open. I duno dude I have a drop down list of games on my router so it does it all for me.

Many if not most people buy it straight through STEAM.

Yeh comes free with HL2 so I doubt anyone owns the hardcopy.

yer i dont own the cd, its just after lke 20 mins i get disconnect from a game..
