Sliding Hard into a tackle is one thing, but almost killing a man? Thats Football? I don't think so.

You should see the English Premiership mate, every Saturday there is a terrible foul. Last sunday a Fulham player could have broken Ryan Giggs's leg by jumping two footed right onto his leg, god it was horrible.

It was an awful challenge and there was absolutely no need for it he should have been sent off.

Ouch, the one where the Guy just starts to beat the crap out of the Ref is quality, the one where the player in a Red Shirt (looks English) flies in the air and hits the guy in the knee, think he might of ended his career, that wasn't cool at all.
You must be talking about Roy Keane :D

Yeah, Thatcher's tackle was awful, I remember you complaining about it on Poker last night Rasied. Then I switched over and saw it, was disgusting.
Hopefully the FA will review and give him a few match ban.
:)
Elbow in a pre-season foreign competition = straight red and 3 match ban
Elbow in a domestic league game = yellow card
Kick the ball away = yellow card
Amazing huh? :)

Did you see what the F.A said?
"As the referee saw it and only decided to book Thatcher we cannot take it any further"
Which it utter crap.
FIFA are getting involved, though. :D

Apparently he might get a ten match ban..might he wants it!
This is the third time he has hurt/knockedout someone with his elbow. I can see him losing everything - they might even ban him for good and could send him to the nick, remember Big Dunc's headbutt? that earned him serveral months in the clink.

Yeah it knocked him out aswell. He wasnt in such a bad state as Mendes - but then again he wasnt as moving as fast against Summerbee.
Im suprised he's at Man City - when Nicky's dad is a club legend there. im not sure - but i still think he hasnt to do with the club
welcome back anyhow!!

This is what I mean about football, the FA seems like it's ran by a bunch of 13 year old neds with no clue about football, so I can bribe the ref to give a yellow while I go and elbow half of the Liverpool squad and nothing happens? bs..
Lets see if FIFA do anything, seeing as they don't use video evidence the morons.

The official reason as to why the arent using tv replays is that it would take to long and disrupt the flow of the game. Rugby works fine doesnt it? Its because there are too many backhanders in football
cya's
That is just bs, I watched a Rugby match and the ref wasn't sure if the try was from a forward pass, he went to the video ref and it took TEN SECONDS to make a decision, now how often would this be used per game, a couple?
I don't mean it should be used for every foul, but for retarded decisions like the Watford penalty or the Tottenham goal that was about 6 miles over Man UTD's line.
It appears the linesmen don't have eyes so we have to be their eyes, aka video evidence, but maybe adding two extra linesmen would help, 4 eyes are better than 2.
It's amazing the FA can sue Hasselbaink over what he wrote in some book but when Thatcher elbows Mendes they can't do jack, I mean if I done that to someone outside I would be in the timpail within a week.
I could sit down and watch that video and come to a conclusion within a minute, 30 match ban and a public hanging, kidding, but seriously I don't get why FA/FIFA thinks using video evidence would be so bad/take so long.
And disrupt the flow of the game? more bs, like throw-ins don't do this plus the fact the ref blows for a whistle with minimum contact, the game is stop-start from the word go.
Now I am waiting for the "we don't have a tv in the hq" excuse as they have used up pretty much everything else.

it makes it easyer to fix games that way, blaming a dodgy disicion on the ref is easy

Yup, it would just be TOO prone to match-fixing. It's alright in Rugby (both ofthem) they are more down-to-earth sports, shall we say, and they don't have anywhere near as much money as Football in them, opposition supporters clap both teams etc. People just liek to watch a good competitve match, if your team wins its a bonus. Therefore, people will not be willing to put money in to fix a game, nor would video refs take money.
Football on there other hand, would be a joke, as it is the total opposti of what I just said, therefore I do not think it would work, tbh.

The guy had the intent of going in to hurt Mendes and afterwards showed no remorse but now that the police are involved hes apolgising. Not that he wouldnt have after the game but the guy is a thug.

You guys seem to forget it (video replay) works in the NFL and the NCAA for making decisions and there is just as much if not more money riding on the big games, not just nationaly but globally.
As for the challenge it was shocking, i'm of the opinion that there is too much theatrics in soccer atm and some times the guys act like it's the end of the world for tiny taps, but that was disgracefull. The fact he knocked the guy clean out is one thing but if you watch the video it appears he brings the elbow up on purpose, so he can't even claim it was just the result of a desperate challange.

I take it that was the first time you saw it then? And I agree it does look like he meant to do it. This is the third type of incident involving him with an elbow too. Why has it taken 3 offences? Slack FA rules and disciplinary panel thats why.

Worse than Aussie bloody rules and Gaelic Football all in one!
No wonder he instantly walked away after the yellow card, he bloody knew it should've been red the fud, if nothing happens to him then the FA is a complete farce.
Wow he apologised, so would I if I done that to someone, he should get a huge ban like 10 games, and knowing FIFA he will get a 50 quid fine.
