Sky sports news has just put out that it looks more than likely that Roy Keane will be the next Sunderland manager.

Im quite positive on this as although he hasnt had any real experience, his captaincy for Man U speaks volumes. I'll give him a go - cannot do anything worse than it is

I saw about this during half-time of the Man U - Charlton game.

Alan Curbishley was cautios about it claiming "he will go in expecting his players to do what he used to be able to on the field, and this will not happen"

Which is a very true statement and one Roy Keane's need's to think about!

I don't think he was born to be a manager.

He's temper will blind him like it happen during his career. He could be a second in carge or something.

No its him and Brian Kidd is his No.2....im quite possitive we need someone who is stern and has a fiery nature, we've missed that since Reidy. Mick McCarthy was too nice - maybe a liitle soft at times but i would welcome him back any day - just not as Keane's no2.

Look we can give him a try - we carnt get any worse. Fergie has trained him for years so he's hoping. This rumour was heard last year - when the irish backers were interested in Sunderland. They are still slient apart from a local businessman - they are supposed to be the previous owners from Man U and the fella from Ryan Air. Keane is supp'ly going to get a large transfer chest

Hmmm here's hoping(Y)

This also goes for every player come manager then, Keane is a guy who expects nothing less than 110%, thing is does he have the tactical knowledge? I doubt it.

I doubt he will expect anyome from the Prem letalone the Championship to do what he done on the field, because quite frankly only about 2 players can do that.

It won't work though, as I said he would need a very experienced assistant because I doubt he has the tactical knowledge.

Brian Kidd number 2!

Your club is finished mate. Seriously, this guy is the pits!

Ever since he became number 2 at Leeds we went downhill, after a while the fan's realised what was happening and basically tried forcing him out of his job, evey match he would get songs chanted, as the team was gong down.

This guy is hell, watch out, I hate him.

You won't get far with that loser there, trust.

Yeah i know Peter Reid sacked him when he took over (in which i thought he did well considering) then he was back when Reidy went. He did alright as Fergie no2 - but why did he get rid of him?

Having watched Roy's press conference i now can see that he is honest in making Sunderland a decent club again. You can see the man has the passion he did as a player to win. He didnt promise the world, only that he would manage sucess as a win, then another etc.

Sunderland AFC has always had a strong Irish connection. From Hurley, Given (yes the Mag's keeper), Quinny. Mick Mc to a whole host of others. He went on to say loads more that was positive and seemed to have a spring in his step. He was asked how many players he would like to bring in - he said 15-20. I believe he can do this.

lol 15-20, in other words he wants to build the entire squad from the bottom up :D

Apparently he has £15M to spend, in a day, now even Paris Hilton couldn't manage that so I expect Sunderland to battle relegation until he has the oppertunity to spend that cash.

But Mick Mcarthy is English?

Sorry forgot to say that the eight members of the consortium are the old ones from Man U, race horse owners and a local business man. Now there is loads of cash to be put into the club. They bought the club for £10million- bargain condisering they get the ground (better than any in Scotland!!!), the training acadamy, players etc. Oh yeah they took on the debts of £40 million though. So if he wants 15-20 then he'll get them. Sunderland have just let loads go. He has said he can call on favors of people for loans deals! Alot of other clubs are quite envious of his capture, so im quite pleased.

So all i ask is give the man a chance and dont laugh at the fact that this man is willing to take up this huge challenge of rebuilding a great club.

Not starting an arguement but please name them. If you say Celtic then i can sort of agree as it is an impressive staduim And i think the Ibrox is of something similar - but that's it. Those two clubs (poss inc Heats now) have all the cash, therefore can improve on their staduims, but the SOL was built from scratch - sometimes harder to do.

You could argue that they are bigger - but the SOL can accomodate upto 64000 if you were to clip the roof of and expand up. My Dad was the surveyour of this so i know.

The SOL was built and paid for for £15million and it houses the worlds oldest football picture (the size of it is huge).

Please view these as it will give you an insight to the ground. It is my opinion and you are welcome to yours but i havent seen many grounds as good as this around the UK - what for it's facilities etc.

Please remember aswell that i have relatives in Scotland - Glasgow and Edinburgh areas and i do visit so i know what the staduim's look like.

I'm not disagreeing that it's a very nice stadium. In fact, I'd put it in my Top 5 in England along with Old Trafford, St. James' Park, Emirates Stadium and the City of Manchester Stadium in terms of looks, capacity, etc.

But I just think that in addition to Celtic Park and Ibrox, that Hampden and Murrayfield are better stadiums as well. :)

HotFish
31/Aug/06, 01:01 PM
St James's park? Eh? No it is a good ground but Newcastle City Council own it not NUFC!. It is also a very high built up ground (because they cannot build out), so the view is disapointing for most home and away fans

I do prefer Celtic Park than Ibrox though.

Well for every 1 person in Scotland, England have about 6. London alone has more people than Scotland.

SOL well considering its always have empty then whats the point in having a massive stadium???

It used to be full pal when they were riding high in the prem - but the old chairman ruined the club. Fans were staying away because of him. They still had some of the highest gates last year circa 35k every match. There were 42k at Niall Quinns takeover day match - but only 26k to see in his last and Roy Keane's debut at the ground.

I know that they will come back when it get's sorted - Sunderland arent glory supporters ( i mean what glory have they had lately!) it's just that it has been on a steady decline.

Here's hoping

But yeah I watched the West Brom game and it was pretty empty but Sunderland I thought played some really nice stuff. You now have 2 really good fringe players from Celtic who I thought should be starting for a bargin price and Liam Miller is well.

I predict the play offs:)

Varga is a good player - we sold him to you's a few years ago. He was a player that could play anywhere really. Dont know much on Russ Wallace, but ive heard good things from him. Graham Kavanagh - im suprised Wigan let him go - he and Bullard made that team last year. David Connelly has always been linked with S/land and as you said Liam Miller is a good player. Here's hoping Dwight Yorke can play as well as he did in the world cup.

What amazed me though did you see the interview with Lennon on his link with Sunderland. he looked gutted when he said Strachen put a block on his move there! My god people do want to play for Keane.

He is celtic through and through in my eyes. Waych this space in Jan

Aye Lennon did look gutted, but Strachan is a typical Edinburgh man, stubborn as hell so he isn't going anywhere.

Ross Wallace barely gets his game, I think he is a left winger but sometimes gets put in left back, apparently Birmingham wanted him, but obviously that wasn't the case, or knowing Strachan he probably wanted £4M.

Lol-all you Scot's are tight gits! remember all my families are from there originally.

I would love though if Lennon would come - maybe Jan who knows. I dont think he will play as good as he can for Celtic now, to be honest he's had itchy feet last season - but Gordon begged him to stay didnt he?.

App'ly there's more released players catching Roy's eye - what we need is a decent keeper. Ben Anlwick - is okay -he attracted a big from Spurs! - but he is not tall enough to be a keeper.

Mick Mc biggest mistake was letting Myhre and Poom go -both good keeper and buying Davis who was scared to go out of his box.

Why Mick sacked/left was due to Davis and Gary Breen ( i know this as my Dad's pal runs the Scottish supporters grp for s/land)...it was the Man City game when Breen got sent off for pushing the ball out of someone's hand. Well anyway at half time Breen was knocked out by a S/land player and the whole dressing room went up -no one never found out who and that was enough for Mick. Trouble is Breen must be his bum chum as there both a Wolves now and Breen has a stupid temper that gets him in trouble - he was good at first but died towards the end of his career with S/land.

Strange football isnt it?

Wow must be great as Leeds have had a win!!:)

Yeah we did lose alot of people but that was due to the old board. Has Leeds had 35k plus the last two seasons?

Your highest attendance this season was 21k and 6 of those were Sunderland

Why the have you brought Leeds into this?

At what point did I say Leeds' attendance was anything good?

I was just saying because that guy seem's to think you have brilliant, loyal fans, yet your attendance has dropped massively over the course of your relegation's. S'not what I call loyal, sunshine.

So don't start bringing Leeds into it when I blatantly know they have e attendance's.

Also, our highest atrendance this year, 21k? Nice one.
