Have you guys seen it. I saw it with some of my buds, and we kinda enjoyed it. Sure, it's a mindless kill-fest, but there were some scary moments. Thoughts?

I thought it was a load of crap...If you look at it through the tainted eyes of a gamer you'd be thinking it was awesome, what with the BFG and the FPS scene (that was cool). But whenever I watch a movie I watch it from an unbiased perspective, as if I know absolutely nothing about the film, nothing about its origens. I just look at it as a film...and films have good acting, a good storyline, and leave you feeling satisfied at the end...
Films like Star Wars (eps 1 -> 3) were pure ****. The only reason I saw them and semi-liked them was because I had loved the original eps 4 -> 6. I notice that a lot of people said they liked the movies because they were just cool...uh huh..and what was cool about it? The special effects? The Sabre-fights? Yeah those were good..but that's the only thing going for those damned movies...The acting, the dialogue, i swear George Lucas should have gotten another writer to do the scripting (need I remind you of the infamous "Noooooooo!"), and get rid of the frickin actors! The only good actors in the first 3 episodes were Liam Neeson, Christopher Lee, and Ewan McGregor and not just because they're all from the UK/Ireland...They actually have experience and can act and play the role. Take Hayden Christiensen: "I HATE THEM!"...I swear I just want to smack that kid over the head with a copy of the original star-wars film...that's right, the film roll they used back in 1978 for A New Hope... Natalie Portman, pur crap. She tries so hard to look concerned and regal but she couldn't pull the part if she was a hooker in an alley..and don't get me started on that little kid in ep. 1, Jake Lloyd..."Are you an Angel?!"...'nuff said...and oh god! Ian McDiarmid (who played Palpatine)! How ****-house was that acting in ep. 3...I was about to walk out of that damned cinema I was so appaled! But the reason why I sorta liked the movies is because I'm a Star Wars fan-boy...gotta love Han and Chewy (Roargh!).
But yes...back to Doom...
As a movie? No thanks...don't think I'll even rent it in 20 years time..
As a movie from a fan-boy's perspective? Yeah, it was alright...some good weapons, the chainsaw from good ol' Doom 1, and the fact that the BFG was hovering on a platform was a nice touch...
but yes...i think this comic pretty much sums up the whole movie:

I wanted to like it...but then I actually watched it and couldn't help but hate it.
Sum it up in 1 word: Laughable

People should know by now that games that go onto the silver screen are utter rubbish in the end. I doubt if I'll watch it the missus might though.

Some of the scenes are like the game in a FPS cam.
Which is quite cool. (Y)

i liked it because i wasnt expecting good acting. i just wanted people to shoot guns, kill things, and die. well, thats pretty much what the movie was. about the BFG, why didnt anything get killed with it. :(

I don't really know what to think of this film, sure, some of it was okay but most of it was sub-par imo.
Almost every game that is turned into a film is never really enjoyable as they cut alot out and the story line is left empty and dull.
Let's see what happens with Halo. (Y)

I haven't seen the film yet and I don't think I will as I am not a big film fan, but looking at it in this magazine I read was cool. The games are bleeping scary so I dread to imagine what the film is like. I plan on seeing King Kong though and I wont have enough time/money to watch them both, touch decision.
