There's no way that's true m8..
It's too big for it to just 'end'.

I think the article Phat posted was probably a bit overboard on it being finished, but it appears that it will not be the huge event that it once was. Very sad news.

That makes more sense, but it's still sad..
I had hopes to go some day, but now it looks like all us mere mortals will be able to do is watch it on TV or the internet.. :'(

If this turns out to be true.. at least there will be more gaming news at random times during the year.. which is kind of better then all at once.. ah screw it i'm just trying to be optomistic.
Now we'll never get to see games like Gears of War and Assassin's Creed :(

The whole industry is cost cutting so this wont be seen as a huge surprise. You will still get all the major players at the show though.

It's the major player's they're having trouble courting.
I think what this really amounts to, when you think about it, is to just cut down E3 access to the gaming media elites and not having all this crazy "nerd stampedes" or whatnot. This is probably the easiest way for them to do this.

I mean they won't get as hyped if they aren't shown like crazy at E3.. therefore less people might find out about it.
Ok maybe it's a stupid theory (:/)

i think its a stupid theory :D
i was hyped about GoW and other games before E3, its just a place to release new footage, thats all.
Hopefully now, the videos etc will get released on the XBLM as exclusives

Well, me, I never heard of Assassin's Creed before E3. I think I heard of GoW but I wasn't that excited, at least now I know I want it.

But you would still hear of the games. Just because the publisher doesn't hype it in front of a thousand people you don't know personally at E3 doesn't mean they won't hype it in front of a hundred people you don't know personally at a console-centric/game-centric event. You'll still get your screenshots and clips and buzz.
You just won't have side-by-side comparisons of the Big Three's keynotes and stuff from the same week.

I know mate, but it'll be easier to miss it if it's not happening during a certain week.
