This is not good news for PS3 fanboys. According to this report 90% developers think PS3 is highly overpriced and it seems that this high price is affecting whether or not certain developers decide to develop for the PS3.

Well, there is a lot of added risks to develop for the PS3. You have a lot more development costs associated with the system and because of the bad press the PS3 has been getting, who knows what kind of market share the PS3 will get.
It might be Sony's turn to get shafted by third parties.

we can buy one on the cheap as a hi definition ps2 game player

What is odd about this report is that many other reports suggest the opposite. In the end we won't know until the PS3 launches and then what happens to it in the coming months.

If it doesn't do horribly after a year or so it might gain more developers, but if I were one I wouldn't want to risk making a game for it right now either.
The only reason I would feel bad for Sony is if the PS2 didn't do so freakin well when it wasn't even the best.
And with what they're doing with the PS3 their digging their own grave anyway..

When the PS3 was in E3, a good number of developers said that the PS3 was their choice of format to develop for. Most of the Japanese developers did favour Sony and the PS3. After E3 I saw loads of reports saying everyone loves the PS3 and that the 360 is not being considered at the moment. Maybe E3 was just a good time to get some rumours flowing :D
Things have changed since E3 with many big Japanese developers voicing their distaste of the PS3 because of high development costs. Even many of the big studios like Konami and Capcom and mentioned that the PS3 is hard to develop and costs vast amounts. Maybe now they are looking into the 360 as a was to increase their profits. As much as people love exclusive games, multiformat is also a good cash maker.

That doesn't come as a surprise judging by how poorly the 360 is doing over there

yeah but Konami and Capcom are very big developers, and im sure if they're having problems, other big western developers will aswell, not to mention smaller ones

what doesn't make sense is why they're still developing for PS3 if it's harder and probably about the same quality as the 360

More PS3s than Xbox 360s means more PS3 games are sold.
Unfortunately (or fortunately) this is a bit of a cycle. Less games out means less systems gets sold, means smaller install base, means less games in dev, means less games out.
Or, more systems sold, more games in dev, more games out, more systems sold.

I meant per copy.. I suppose you might be right, but there are some games I think would make more money on the 360 then the PS3 and even be easier to develop
PS3 is currently an untested brand and many developers are thinking about the safest, cheapest and most profitable route to go. When Xbox first came out many developers just laughed, now the 360 is here many devs are looking into the 360 a bit more.
It is great to see Konami, Capcom, Epic and many others looking into the 360 and seeing it as a viable console to develop for. In the end it means we get access to even more great games to play!
I don't really care who wins the console war, that does not really interest me. I just want to play cool games, have fun with friends and enjoy myself. I think many people forget why we play games in the first place...

I just hope the 360 does so I can get all of the games I want on it. Really don't feel like paying for a PS3, but if there are some games on that that aren't on the 360 that look cool, I know I'm going to end up buying one.
