What sport were you playing in the first one?
Also, I've not had any proper sporting injuries. Playing rugby lead to quite a few minor ones, but I've never broken any bones or anything. Other sports I'm pretty much unaffected by.

NOthing serious.
I just punched once playing Aussie Rules at school. Never EVER play that Sport given the choice, you WILL regret it :D
Thats it. Obviously had a few knocks in footy. Had one recently that put me out for 4 months, don't know what caused it, don't know what is was, neveer went to hospital to get it checked
:D
Nothing serious enough to get me carted straight off to hospital but playing in goal in football I took my share of bashes.
Dislocated/fractured fingers the most common ones, althought the most serious of those I had was inflicted by one of those nerf balls that hit me square on the end of my index finger.
I remember one game I'd come off my goal-line to close an attacker down, he knocked the ball slightly too far ahead and I dove down at his feet to get hold of it, unfortunately he was in the process of shooting and I took a almighty whack to the side of the head.
My most serious injury was during training, we'd been doing a lot of running and towards the end I went to accelerate from a jog to a sprint and immediately felt a snap around the top of my thigh by my hip. Went to hospital a few hours later and the doctor wasn't entirely clear but I'd either badly stretched or torn the tendons in that area, was on crutches for a couple of weeks and not able to play for around 2 months.

At first it didnt seem to hrut but then running on it just killed. Couldn't breathe for abit afetr the match to.

Most painful thing that happend to me was when I was playing baseball and I was at-bat and the baseball hit me right on my index finger, almost snaped it on half, what sucked most was that i couldnt play Halo or any fps for like a month.

the worst i've heard of around my area was a guy injured his neck playing rugby (high tackle) and was paralysed, but they (doctors probably) snapped it back and now hes all right. :) :| :D

Are you sure he just didn't injusre his neck.
If he was paralysed he would never be able to walk again

playing in goals against my mates in the estate, went up for a high ball, got a knee in the chest. Blacked out and was unconcious for a while. Broken a few fingers and dislocated a few bones in other games too. Never anything serious.

I broke an arm during football, one of the side affects of playing tackle football without any pads or helmets. :(
Splinted my shin twice in basketball, don't recall how, just one of those spur of the moment down the court type of things. I've also sprained my ankle at least a dozen times, and cracked my wrist once when I tried to dunk the ball, but was blocked and pounded into the hard wood.
Also, don't know if this is a sports injury, but, I was playing some pick up ball with a couple of my friends, and these thugs showed up. One of 'em was being pretty racist, so I called him out on it. We ended up fighting, and it kinda came out as a draw. But as I was walking home, they chased me down in their car, hopped out and curbed me. My friends took me home, and I ended up having to get like five stitches in my chin because of the severe blood loss.
Also cracked my skull once when I was skateboarding :(
So yeah, not too many for me.....

As in, stamped your face on the curb?

Wow, what -------s.
Seriously, though, what I said two posts above is what I'd happily to do to anyone I knew did something like that. Because something like curbstomping well and truly justifies it. :D

So this is a big thing in America, then?
Because I've never, ever heard of something like it happening here.
Well, we all know what happens in Glasgow.
;)

Lots of things happen here. The Glasgow send-off, for example, in which you get knifed/shot up the ass. Ouch.
We don't have curbstomping, though, because that's just ultimately gay.
(This actually makes me sound like I approve of knife crime or something. Which I don't... honestly. :D)

19/Nov/05, 06:57 PM
haha yea getting knifed is better than being curbed :|
anywho. that doesnt happen where i live. there arent even that many fights. of course where i live there isnt very many people. plus people living in the country arent as crazy as you city folk ;)

It's not as bad here as is made out sometimes, to be honest. You probably wouldn't know, living in America and all, but on the news and stuff it's made out that Glasgow is the most violent place in the UK, when it's really not. Knife crime is bad, yes, but there isn't as much use of firearms here as there are in other places down south.
Still, although I can think of many places that are probably better cities to live in, I doubt I'll ever leave this place. Too much effort more than anything else. :D

Got to agree with you, probably depend where abouts you are aswell like everywhere there are good parts and bad parts for violence. Well on the subject of beatings the other day this guy who used to go to my school got gang attacked, I wouldn't go into details (as many before) but to say the least a concrete slab was involed. Back on January 1st I went Skateboarding and I went down a pretty steep hill and I would have reached a speed of over 30mph. When I was going to land into the road where I would slowly slow down my speed a van just had to be coming along. I therfore jumped off my board and grabbed it whilst rolling on the pavement. The impact on my knee was incredibly painful. You see I have a diseased called Osgood Shlatter which basically means growing pains on my shin bone. I didn't do any sports for a good 2 months.

Yep I am. It wasn't nice but in January to March you get lots of rain so I didn't miss much. All I hated was thinking I would be alrgiht, thinknig it was healed enough to go out skating again but then being let down by the pain I got when bending down. Haven't been injured that bad since then though so I'm going strong!
Oh and I took a oath to never go down that hill on my skateboard again lol.

I had Osgood Schlatter's disease in my knee when I was around 14, it's where the bone grows faster than the muscle which then becomes stretched, very painful when you try and use the muscle in question. Being on my knee I felt it almost constantly.
JJBDude
03/Dec/05, 11:38 PM
Yeah you do, and I got it in both of my knees lol. But after having this disease for 1 year and a half the swelling has gone and I'm left with just a slightly bigger shin than everyone else (I presume you are too right?). So no more pain unless it gets whacked with by a hammer lol.
The only permanent affect I've had is that my left knee will start to ache if I leave it one position for more than a few minutes.

03/Dec/05, 11:42 PM
Damn that sounds bad. Occasionally like every couple of weeks I get a little bit of pain from it for a few minutes but I don't get pain if I leave my knee in the same position for a few minutes. How are you sitting at the PC now? With difficulty I guess. :p

To be honest I barely notice it now that I'm so used to it, but I do shift positions quite a bit.

That all sounds very painful.
But, Sport Hurts - Go hard, or go home :D
Twisted my ankle at least 5 times.
You'll know when I do, its when I hop around for 5 minutes, scream like a 5 year old girl and generally rush to a freezer.
The annoying thing is, the foot is completely unstable. So when I walk anywhere, I have to watch where im walking, because if the ground is suddenly unlevel without my knowing, then I fall arse over tit and look like a complete twit. Usually in Guildford High Street.
Smile at a girl, than fall flat on your arse. Most embaressing.

Haha (at that last sentence).
That doesn't sound too good, though.
Can you not like go see a Doctor, and get him to make it better.
Maybe he can give you a plaster with pictures on it. (Like a 5 year old girl).
Last I heard, theres no ready made pill :p
Unfortunately, its just a Physio. Who tells you to rotate it when I seem twice a month. Biggest waste of tax payers money I have seen in ages.
I tell a lie, Millenium Dome is still the biggest waste.

My mate had that. And i swear I've got something like it, my knee's are crap. Very wierd shaped, lumpy, painful. crap. But I dont get pain all the time only if im doing sports, or walking for ages. and if i bend my leg so my foot goes to my ass then my knee clicks :s and i get the pain if i leave my leg in the same position for a few minutes too , sometimes its friggin bad and horrible.
oh, and i cant make my legs go straight either, or does everyone get that? they cannot physically straighten, and i cant cross them either.
But its nothing like what my mate had, so it aint osgood schlatter's.
cba to see a doctor tho.

When i was 2, we had a cheapy swing in the garden, and i really wanted to have a go, but my dad was watching tv, i nagged and nagged. Then the only bit i actually have a visual memory of, was him turning off the tv. We went on the swing, i was on his lap, the rope snapped, and we fell, he landed on his ankle and broke it. still has pins in it, and couldnt walk for a year.

Last May here in Norway I was playing football with people from work and I got a brain con'cussion, I didn't know I had it that bad and I drove home was the worst I could have done, I was two weeks home from work!
And I some leg and head injuries riding mountain bikes.
And broke my left leg and my head was open when I was 4 years, almost died I was not careful crossing the street, my mother was on the window and saw everything. My father was a policeman at the time and I got all the best!!
This just the first time my head was open I have more than 10 marks on my head, some from fighting.
