No WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2007

Today, THQ announced that they have cancelled the Playstation 3 version of the next title in the hit wrestling series WWE Smackdown! vs. RAW. The 2007 version, which now is only under development for the Xbox 360, PS2, and PSP, will not grace the PS3 library, as the company wants to "concentrate resources on the other three platforms."

THQ supposedly started their development on the PS3 version several months later than the other console versions, which may help to explain their decision: the game may not have been able to fit thei deadlines, or they may not have been able to adapt to the new hardware in time.

Thus far, THQ has only given this announcement through their German forums, and has yet to send an official press release.

Another cancellation for the PS3, if THQ is finding it difficult to port games across to PS3, imagine what other developers are going through. Imo the WWE Smackdown franchise was a big exclusive for Sony, now they aren't even seeing this installment, and PS fans will have to wait it out for 2008.

That is actually a big loss. Some people may laugh, but the WWE license makes a lot of money, and Sony are definitely losing out here.

I'll bet the WWE aren't happy either because they will lose a fair bit of revenue from this. Not good news for Sony or their fanboys! ;)

At the end of the day if it will make the Developers alot more money transfering it to another platform, as long as the possible profit margin is there they will do it.

All Sony need to do is get the consumers, then the developers will come running to launch that game on that platform.

Sure Full Auto 2 isto be launched on PS3 as an Exclusive, purely as they expect to get more buyers than if they launched it on Xbox 360. As I think it's going to be a near PS3 launch title!

massive loss for sony imo, maybe they think the ps3 wont sell with the huge price tag and dont wana risk making copies of the game and puttin them on the shelves if they are not gonna sell

Many people will be buying a PS3 to get their wrestling action. Seems like THQ will dissapoint them for now. The Smackdown series has always sold really well and this will be a smackdown for the PS3. Sure they will get 2008 but many may switch to 360 to get the best Smackdown action. :) Soon see!

It's a wise choice for THQ to wait for an established userbase before porting one of their big guns....just bad news for the fans.

Another blow to the Sony Chav culture, which is what put them where they are, losing more and more loyal fans every month it seems. I see the Tekken fans aren't very happy either...after seeing the Tekken 6 screens I can see why!

It has been said before but I agree that this is a HUGE loss for sony, The Smackdown series was one of the biggest selling franchises on the Playstation and now THQ drops it for the PS3 and creates it for the PS3s biggest competitor. It will still be on the PS2 but some stuff will be missing from that(nothing to big, mostly enviromental activity stuff).
This seems to be turning into a bit of a trend, with many companys delaying or cancelling PS3 games.

On a side note the new Smackdown looks awesome :)
