I am in the process of updating my gaming PC and will be buying a PCI-Express GFX card.

The question is what will give me the best Bang per Buck?

I have my eye on an ATI X1800XT as I can get them for half what they cost 3 months ago.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am looking for one in the region of £300 max.

ive never liked ATI cards that much myself, prefer nVidia, what about an nVidia GeForce 7900 GT?

you can pick them up for under £300

I would have thought with X1900 being out getting anything in the X1800 Ati range would be reasonable value.
I wouldn't spend over £200, the cards above that will go down hugely in price when next model is out, go for something that has already been price cut. @£200 it will still be an amazing card.

Maybe a GeForce 7800GTX or 7900 GT?

you could do a good dual 6800 ultra sli for 300 quid, which would be morepowerful than 1 7800

X1900. Nuff said. I have a X800XT PE and it plays most games at high. Apart from BF2 but that game requires a stupid amount of power.

I got a X1800XT PCI-E for £130. Had no probs running any games yet. Everything defaults to High Graphical detail with anything I have run so far.

I really fancy going through Half Life 2 again. Might even buy it this time :)
