ok, i think im getting used to using photoshop now, but i still cant figure out how to create a sig with a picture of say, john terry in it as i can't cut him out of the background....

I want it to be just him, does anyone know how i can make this happen?

Martyn, have the picture selected then go Filter-->Extract.
Now, this can get slightly tricky, look in the top left and make sure the Pen shaped thing is selected, go round the edge of John Terry, and make sure you cover even the bottom of the picture, or it will not work. Now John terry is fully covered round with pen, select the bucket one, and press anywhere on John Terry...before doing so, get the rubber and make the pen is perfectly round the edge of JT.
So, with JT highlighed using the bucket, press OK. It will still be fairly rough aroudn the edge, so select the normal rubber and rub out these bits. #
Now copy + paste it onto your work. You can resize it by going edit-->free tranform if you wish.
Oppps, posted in other thread aswell. :$
Nev mind, hope it helps.

The edges of his body seem to have high enough contrast that the magnetic lasso will get it, without you having to do a pixel-by-pixel selection with the regular pen. Just do a rough trace around him with the magnetic lasso, it's like.. a weird polygon icon with either a magnet or a magic wand, and photoshop should be smart enough to pick him out.

Select the Rectangul Marquee Tool, drag a box around what you want to copy, when you have boxed it, go edit-->copy...now go to the layer you want to paste it onto and go edit-->paste.

Once you get into it and have played about with it for a few weeks it's amazing what you can come up with.

S'a good 1st effort.
Right, constructive criticism, the "cutting out" of the player could maybe be better , maybe after you have finished cutting him, grab the rubber tool adn try to tidy it up a bit...:), also, the outer glow on him looks rather, um, dodgy, take the opacity down a tad, and just try not to make it stand out as much.
'bout it for now, in a bit you will need to download some brushes though to make some grunge backgrounds or something. :)

:) I was expecting a death sentence:D Yeah I was just trying to finish a sig to get an idea of what I was doing.
Now speaking of downloading brushes, *whispers*They wouldnt happen to cost anything, would they???
