Riquelme in the Argentina-Ivory Coast game, I'd say.
I'd agree with Carlos Edwards in the Sweden-T&T game, gambeler, although Brent Sancho pushed him for it.
TRI - SWE game the man of the match was york
ARG - CIV game the man of the match was saviola, a bit strange!

11/Jun/06, 09:52 AM
I suppose you could give it to any T&T player.
Larsson and Ibrahimovic played reraly wel despite not scoring.

I cannot believe Frank Lampard got MOTM! I tohught he was the quietest player on the pitch. Joey Cole deserved it! :)

11/Jun/06, 05:59 PM
It's hard when you have 3 Iranians on you almost constantly, he is draws alot of attention on Corner and free kicks, letting guys like Bravo run free and score

Marquez or Bravo were my Man of the match
WACCOE
11/Jun/06, 07:15 PM
Bravo will get it. But I think Naelson or Marquez deserve it. :)
Iran disappointed me up top - I expected a bit more tbh.
MEX - IRA

i think angloa's gk should have got the motm award
and Marquez for mexico in the other game, (hes solid)
normally the prize goes to the teams that wins.
Fifa will not do a 2002 WC final thing again, kahn best WC player puah!
AfroJoe
12/Jun/06, 12:49 PM
I thought Marquez was excellent during the Mexico-Iran game yesterday. A class ahead of everyone else on the pitch. You can really see why he plays for Barcelona.
Easily Robben in Holland-Serbia, although if Koroman had been playing from the start, he would have been in with a shoutl. I thought he was very, very good.
WACCOE
12/Jun/06, 04:04 PM
Tim Cahill. What else can I say. Turned the game on it's head.
yeh i'll check it out, saw the game but was making dinner during the last minuts.
I'll say is the most value player in the WC til now.

12/Jun/06, 04:08 PM
You was making dunner in the last few minutes? You missed something special then.
3 goals in 8 minutes for the Socceroo's. Was some amazing stuff!

Very harsh on Japan. Nakata and Nakamura wre dictating it and the Cahill hill and his mate come on.
Cahill for me.
i saw the goals right after, the tv is 1 meter away!!
great stuff!

didnt see the other games properly cause i was at work but essian for me in the italy ghana game
backin-strachan
12/Jun/06, 10:01 PM
Yeah Essien ran the midfield really. Box to Box play from Essien.
AfroJoe
12/Jun/06, 10:44 PM
Nakamura was MOTM for me in Japan-Australia. Really unlucky not to be on the winning side. Controlled the game from start to finish.
Czech Republic-USA was no contest. Rosicky all the way.
Italy-Ghana was Alessandro Nesta. Brilliant performance.
WACCOE
12/Jun/06, 10:45 PM
I couldn't pick a MOTM in the Italy game, knowbody really stood out for me...I would pick that defender who took the guy out on the edge of the box, just for the grin. :D

12/Jun/06, 10:55 PM
Aussie Japan - Cahill or Naka ta/mura
Czech USA - Yep Rosicky
Italy Ghana - Essien without a doubt. Deserved a win.

cant pick no one as every one played so poor the closest player to it woz senderos
WACCOE
14/Jun/06, 11:16 AM
Both the France and Brazil game's were really poor. I'd agree wtih Sendros for that match gameberler, even though knowbody really stood out imo.
AfroJoe
14/Jun/06, 12:29 PM
France-Switzerland is just too difficult to call, as most players were average at best.
Brazil-Croatia has to be Kaka, who was pretty much the only Brazilian who actually did anything. Up until he went off, I would have said Niko Kovac, as he was playing well. Dado Prso was very good as well, but I'm going to have to go with Kaka.
WACCOE
14/Jun/06, 03:55 PM
Hmm...would be hard to pick one from the Spain match. Everyone played well for them, I would have picked Villa, but he got subbed with 35 minutes left...so, erm, Puyol - he definately played his part. Did well with that last goal aswell. :)
AfroJoe
14/Jun/06, 04:26 PM
I'm going to go for Torres.
He's pacy, has fantastic touch, and scored a great goal as well.
WACCOE
14/Jun/06, 04:30 PM
Could well be a dig for goal of the tournmanet - you won't see many better team goals.

14/Jun/06, 04:38 PM
Yep superb but dont think Id put it ahead of Frings though:)
Garcia or Torres for MotM
AfroJoe
14/Jun/06, 05:09 PM
I'd put it ahead of Frings' goal.
I'd put Wanchope's 2nd ahead of Frings as well.
I'm a sucker for quality team goals. Takes a lot more effort than just smashing the ball in the direction of goal and hoping it troubles the keeper.

ESP - UKR
The Man of the match was:
Luis Garcia
AfroJoe
14/Jun/06, 11:22 PM
Germany-Poland MOTM for me was Artur Boruc.
Made some fantastic saves and without him Poland would have got beaten much more heavily.
Man of the match list until 14th of june:
GER 4-2 CRC - klose, scored 2 goals
POL 0-2 ECU - delgado, scored the 2nd goal and made the pass for 1st.
ENG 1-0 PAR - Lampard, played a ok game.
TRI 0-0 SWE - Dwight York, was a leader for his team was in every play!
ARG 2-1 CIV - Saviola, scored the 2nd goal.
NED 1-0 SCG - Robben, scored a goal and had good runs.
ANG 0-1 POR - Figo, made the pass for the 4 minut goal.
MEX 3-1 IRA - Bravo, scored 2 goals.
ITA 2-0 GHA - Pirlo, scored 1 goal.
USA 0-3 CZE - Rosicky, scored 2 goals!
BRA 1-0 CRO - Kaka, scored the goal that gave BRA a hard win.
AUS 3-1 JPN - Cahill, in on the 69' 2 great goals 1st aussie to score in a WC
FRA 0-0 SUI - Makekele, a rock and an example for his team mates.
KOR 2-1 TOG - Ahn, scored the winning goal for KOR.
ESP 4-0 UKR - Xavi, the brain of the team keeping the team attacking all time
TUN 2-2 KSA - Jaziri, scored the 1st nice move and passed for the 2nd.
GER 1-0 POL - Lahm, no defensive mistakes and his attacking runs!
GER and POL the only teams until now with 2 games tomorrow 3 important matches, ENG will have to show a bit more. ENG wins and has alomst the 1st place in the group. SWE - PAR goes after the ENG game but both teams can only think about winning.
ECU - CRC a match to see, CRC must win and ECU has a better team and is confidente, must get at leats a point to go to the next round.
See ya tomorrow!

john (the great) terry is motm for me so solid at the back
WACCOE
15/Jun/06, 10:07 PM
Deffo JT for me.
Knowone else really stood out...Crouch should be shot, fair enough he scored but meh, that's all he did - Lampard should also be shot, because he was utter crap!
If Aaron Lennon does not start next game, and the game after Sven need's to be shot, he made the difference when he came on, Rooney did nothing, which is understandable...but Lennon totally changed the game.
3-5-2 worked for England in the last 10, maybe we should try that V Sweden, seen as were already through.
backin-strachan
15/Jun/06, 10:24 PM
Just because a player played rubbidh doesnt mean they should be dropped TB. Ronaldinho had a terrible game. So did Henry so did Zidane so did Shevchenko.
If Crouch hadnt scored I think it would be a pretty nervy last game for England as I think it have been a draw.
Larsson or Kállstorm MotM for me
WACCOE
15/Jun/06, 10:27 PM
Lampard should be dropped, we would play MUCH better with Gerrard and Backham in the centre, with Lennon on the right...we have nothing to lose V Sweden so we may aswell try imo.
backin-strachan
15/Jun/06, 10:29 PM
You have the top spot to lose against Sweden. I would keep the same team that ended the game today as they had a much better game when the subs came on.
WACCOE
15/Jun/06, 10:31 PM
I was well bad through the game lol, before Beckham whipped that ball in I said "Christ! Crouch is (enter S word here)" then BANG! he scores....
Then beofre Gerrard recieved the ball to shoot and score I said "Gerrard has been quiet today, hasn't he?" then he scored.

Sweden-Paraguay was either Kim Kallstrom or Denis Caniza, for me.
WACCOE
16/Jun/06, 10:59 AM
Is he the oen that did that unbelieveable goal-line clearance off Marcus Allback's chip? :D
If so, him - just purely for that. :D
AfroJoe
16/Jun/06, 03:41 PM
Yeah, it was.
He's been pretty much Paraguay's only player at this tournament besides Nelson Haedo Valdez. The rest of them have been gash.
Except the keeper, as well. Plus his name rocks. Bobadilla 4tw!

16/Jun/06, 06:58 PM
Robin van Persie for me (Y)
Man of the match:
ECU 3-0 CRC - Delgado, scored 1 goal and played a great game.
ENG 2-0 TRI - Beckham, for his leader role during the game and the crosses.
SWE 1-0 PAR - Ljungberg, scored the winning goal.
ARG 6-0 SCG - Riquelme, well there's not much to say, what a game for ARG!
NED 2-1 CIV - Robben, great pass on 2nd goal keeps running the 90 minuts.
MEX 0-0 ANG - Joao Ricardo keeper for ANG, a great save on the 88' first keeper to be man of the match.
