Alright guys, who, in your opinion are the most valuable player to their respective team? Name the Top 3 in you're Opinion, can be any position but who is so vaulable that without him, they are nothing. Let me go first,
1. Jared Borgetti-Mexico
Without Borgetti, Mexico is nothing, he is their biggest goal scoring threat.
2.Theirry Henry-France
Well the guy can do anything and everything, one of the best Strikers in the cup.
3. Dideir Drogba- Ivory Coast- Great player, the reason IV is such a dangerous team.
I should also mention that my soccer IQ isn't very high :p

1 Wayne Rooney - England - Do I need to say anything
2 Dwight Yorke - Trinidad & Tobago - Probably their best player
3 Emmanuel Adebayor - Togo - Their biggest threat going forward
I dont know, you're on it right there killer. 3 players that are very important for their teams.
I don't know much of borgetti so i think drogba could be n.1.

I don't know about Borgetti. They could still score enough goals and have a big/good enough team to do well without him. Cauthetmoc Blanco 4TW!
I don't actually know about this question, as I think most teasm could cope with there main player (like Enlgand I suppose) so im not going to say anyone. :)

Riquelme 4tw, AJ says. Just wait and see.

Really? you think so? I feel he had a negative effect on the team, not to mention he threatened the coach.

Every player will be eclipsed by the one and only Ronaldinho. Gerrard and will be a lonly distant second. I do not think much of Riquelme. Great player but nothing to special.
In terms of how vauable a player is to their country. Dont rate Borgetti too much but Rafael Marquez I believe is Mexicos valuable player. He will hold you together.
England - Beckham
Brazil - Ronaldinho
France - Henry
Holland - Nistelrooy
Italy - Totti
Portugal - Deco (Maybe since its his last year, Figo)
Germany - Ballack
Japan - Nakamura :)
adriano for brazil
rooney for england
henry for france
reina for spain

As Killer said, though, despite his talents as a player, he's an absolute headcase. Not a good guy to have around your squad.

I agree Rafael Marquez is a quality player,But Borgetti is their leader on the field , also he is my favorite footi player overall.

Well check out Zurawski for Poland. Fantastic player. Skill Speed and he know where the goal is.

Look at his goals for a striker. The majority of the arent 6-10 yard tap ins,
:D
Zurawski is a good old school striker. good heading and simple nice dribles.

It means, since I posted that Before the game, you can say that my post was wrong, since looking back is more accurate, hence Behind sight is 20/20.
Also Borgetti is hurt :'(

Well it was Mexico the 2nd half. Borgetti was mince Killr. Marquez and Bravo looked great:)
WACCOE
11/Jun/06, 07:14 PM
Yup, Mexico we're deffo on top in 2nd half. The Naelson (Zinha) whatever he is called was a really good player, nice header!
LOL @ all the mexican's that have slagged Omar Bravo off in the past few days, I hope they feel guilty.
1 thing Mexico lack seems to be a WORLD CLASS striker - they are brilliant everywhere else on the pitch, they just haven't got that 1 player.

Yeah We don't have a WORLD CLASS striker, since Hugo Sanchez, I think Jared Borgetti is a quality Striker,Lethal header, but he isn't a WORLD CLASS striker.

Yup. Like England have Rooney, Portugal have Pauleta, Holland have Nistelrooy, Paraguay have Santa Cruz. I could go on. Most teams seem to have them. :)

Yeah of course judge a player by one half, soo logical.
Then I guess Santa Cruz as well, since he was non-existent against England.
WACCOE
11/Jun/06, 09:59 PM
I aren't judging him by 1 half. I am judging him by what I have seen of him in the Premiership last season partly, in which he is probably the most over-hyped player ever to come over here - he had a really bad season...and by what I have seen of him in past matches.
And I wouldn't class him as World Class.
Killer 57
11/Jun/06, 10:05 PM
Maybe, I mean he is breaking ground, the first Mexican to ever play in the English Premier League, so there was alot of Pressure. When it comes to international Competition however, the guy is an Ice Cold killer. He always seems to come through when Mexico needs him the most , his goal against Italy is the stuff of legends.
I didn't think about his Season with the Bolton Wanderers, so I see where you are coming from, but I got to defend my boy.
Yeah We don't have a WORLD CLASS striker, since Hugo Sanchez, I think Jared Borgetti is a quality Striker,Lethal header, but he isn't a WORLD CLASS striker.
He's a world class stirker but a striker needs a playmaker, you will see when deco comes in for POR. it gets different he's plays foward no fouling around.
Killer 57
11/Jun/06, 10:53 PM
Yeah I know but when Thornbag said World Class my first though was guys like Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Henry and Riquelme. But I do think Jared Borgetti is a World Class Striker.
WACCOE
12/Jun/06, 11:34 AM
Fair play to you defending your boy. :)
You have your opinion I have mine...at least we aren't arguing. :D
I just hope he plays again in the WC. Is there any news on how bad his injury is?

Hamstring Strain, he is out for the group stages, and maybe has a chance to return for the Best of 16 :'(

Depends how you define WORLD CLASS. WORLD CLASS is playing at the top level and coping well which he was doing until he was injured.
WACCOE
12/Jun/06, 05:53 PM
Hmm...I wouldn't call his from for Bolton coping well at the top level. :s

12/Jun/06, 06:16 PM
Yeah but but there are plaeyers out there that could perform at the top level and wouldnt be called world class because they dont match the definition.

Look at what he does on the International Level Thornbag, remember playing in the Premier league, its a different style of play then the Mexican league.
WACCOE
12/Jun/06, 10:43 PM
Exactly. The Premier League is a lot higher standard. Infact, in my opinion it's the highest club standard in the world, and if he can't perfrom in it then to me he can't be all he is cracked up to be. Also, if he was that good he would have got snapped up by a much better team, a while back.

Spain for me TB but good point he could have went to a better club than Bolton. Not exactly a WORLD CLASS team

to be fair bolton didnt give him a chance to prove himself, but its true bolton arnt exactly a world class team
