Not to long ago, I raised my hands ontop of my heating PS2, knewing it was going to break soon but yet I convinced myself Im one of the few people whose PS2h as broken a dozen times. Not to long ago, I stood beside my PS2 playing games which didn't appeal to me deep with in me but told myself they did because well, it was made by Sony. The same guys who have the God of War, MGS and GT liscenses. Not to long ago, I fell in love with the weirdest peice of hardware ever released, a controller that resembled a bent ***** (or in more realistic terms "boomerang") and I backed it up telling fellow fanboys "Its cool!" meanwhile deep inside I despised it. Not to long ago, I thought Sony was going to release the PS3 at 450 dollars or less, and if they didnt, they would have a great reason on why not to.
Not to long ago, I thought Sony was going to blow us all away with a great Press Conference and a great E3 showing. Basically, I was a Sony lover. No, not a fanboy because I treasure other consoles, including my 360, but I would always defend Sony no matter what direction they were going in. No matter what road they took even if it meant slapping gamers in the face with a pricetag that most people simply would rather spend on a car.
E3 came and went. And yet again I was lieing to myself. I convinced my mind that the Sony PC (Press Conference) was great. The controller ideas, the playstation network, virtual bull**** was superb. And best of all I thought the demos were excellent, especially the GT Vision peek.
Well then yesterday, while in math, staring at the hottest girl in my grade's ass, I had a revelation. No it wasnt her hot thong sticking out of her pants (Oh yes!), but it was actually the fact that Sony is plain out ****ed and come to the point where I give them no backup and simply slap them back with this.
The Top 10 Reasons Why I Had Enough of Sony
10. Certain lecturing comments during Sony PC. It was a lecture, it was like Sony was a bunch of dictators telling us when the next generation starts, even if it looks worse than what the others have created. Some comments about marketing make no sense like one. "We are not interested in gimmicks when it comes to marketing". Umm....Hellz Yeah!
9. Sony Network will fail. For the past couple of months I have been treasuring this new Sony Network, which Sony promised would be a virutal internet of media on your Playstation 3. Quite frankly after doing some research almost all of the Sony-built networks, gaming server hosts and such have failed alot compared to Xbox LIVE. Lag, lacks of promised features and other various effects will account to the Sony Networks demise. Basically an advanced version of PS2 Online. Whose motto currently is "We wish we were Xbox LIVE".
8. Loss of GTA. Quite frankly GTA was the reason why most people bought a PS2. It was the only game in recent years that reached the mainstream media. This was basically free advertising for Rockstar, making the game THE most well known game on the planet. And you let that go? You let a huge advantage go, something that can benefit you in ways that numbers can't show? Kudos..
7. No playable MGS. I dont get this. The one appealing PS3 "Only" launch title needed to be up and running for the years biggest event. Instead, they show a 15 minute long trailer, which I fell asleep halfway through (I blamed it on the movie I was watching at the same time). This is what will need to compete with Zelda TP and Halo 3, yet dont make it playable? Are those graphics pre rendered because from the other games Sony showed, they sure as hell looked Pre Rendered.
6. Resistance Fall of Man. Simply a dissapointment. Not only has no one heard of this game, it simply looked terrible. Looked similar to a terribly done version of the COD 2 original online server, framerate sucked and the graphics were worse.
5. Hardly no playable demos or even showings at E3. Simply put, the games promised to be there didnt show. Fable, FF and most importantly- Killzone made no showing. Nice.
4. GT Vision. A terrible dissapointment. Trailer went for to long, and it looked 10x worse than PGR 3. They showed terrible tracks with no color or lighting. It was similar to giving kids on hallowen a tootsie roll with **** wrapped inside of it. I was stunned especially because I love Gran Turismo so much, and to show that? That horrid peice of grandpa ****?
3. Controller. A complete rip off of Nintendo's Wii motion functionality and a bunch of additions making the controller design similar to that of the Xbox 360's. Not only was it uninnovative but I have heard that it is hard to control, including the use of it in Warhawk (yet another underwheling demo). Plus it looked cramped together and quite bad.
2. Blu Ray. The BR is going to make the PS3 better. No doubt about this. Quicker load times, better picture quality, more graphical room, and all of that will make the PS3 better. But if the BR fails on the platform it was built for (Home Video, and selling just the BR player) and it comes to the point where it is only being made for the PS3, then it will keep the PS3 at the price tag it is now. Basically, if BR fails, dont expect a price drop for a long time. And looking at Sony's track record: it will fail. And its make the PS3 the price tag it is now, and when it comes down to it, the difference between the 360s DVD player and the PS3's Blu Ray will only truly show in your wallets.
1. Choices. Quite frankly Sony chose to make the PS3 $600. When they focused on BR and a powerful cell processor they knew they were going to charge a hefty price tag simply because the hardware is hard to manufactor. This will lose the mainstream gamer. Simply put, the 360 will have the same great games, the same great marketing and a better online service. On which it could take over - putting Sony at the bottom. If they cant lower the price in a year (it will be a couple before it does drop probably...) no one will keep waiting. The 360 will be at 300 or less by Q3 2007. And Sony will still be stuck in this 600 Dollar mess, one with no good perserved games and an online service that will crack. People will begin to say "Hey the 360 has all these games and is cheaper. Graphics are just as good." or "I want to try something different and get all the classics. Im getting the Wii instead." Or as I did "**** Sony. Brainwashing tards. I cant wait til I kill Kojima.".
Sony is in a hole, one they wont get out of for a couple of years or at all. They need to fix this within the next couple of months with real demos and a shocking presentation. They wont suprise you and redo the system entirly, its official. Sony chose what they were doing months ago, and now are recieving the reaction they deserve.
Even though I have completly dropped my protection of Sony in this previous post, I will have to give them one peice of pity. They have TGS. Its simply their last chance to show some impressive games and online software information. If it is not released by then, Sony is just about screwed.
