It has been like this for a while now. When I got to do a Pound sign (Shift + 3) it does this # - why?

When I go to do an AT sign, as in what you put in an email address (thornbag99AThotmail.com), it does this " - why?

It's all muddled. Any simple way of gettign back how it used to be?

Ta. :)

I'm not sure, but I am in the same situation as you, and I have just learnt to deal with it. I am lead to believe that my keyboard has had it's settings changed, and now operates as a American Keyboard would (meaning when we try the pound sign we get a #).

I tried fixing it (apparntly there is a EN logo in the bottom right corner toolbar but I never see one) but I always fail. I would also like to be able to fix my the problem. :)

Buy new Keyboards both of you.

It's the settings on our (well for me for sure) PC's that is making this happen, nothing is wrong with our keyboards.....

Oh, anyone know how to change them back to EU? Instead of this American bollox?

I go to do Speech Marks and I get an AT sign, watch: @ - LOL! Haven't found a way to do a Pound sign yet though, :s.

What a joke!

It's impossible to do the pound sign Thornbag, I've had my settings like this for a year now and I still haven't found a way to do it.

And killer 57, you are very funny. :|

Funny? Who said anything about being Funny?

It looks like your Keyboard is set to US Standerd, Shift+3=# for me, and
Shift+2=@.

Suggesting for someone to buy a new PC because some minor settings have changed on their PC is a incredibly lame attempt of being funny imo.

Least you tried to be helpful in your last post by posting some helpful information, I was starting to think you were only making those posts to bump up your post count.

I've done what the page says and I thought everything was going to work (my settings were switched to United States). However I click Ok to finish and come here to make my post and still I get ######### when I try to make the pound sign. Do I need to reboot my PC to make the change work?

Edit:- Aha I've done it, just had to click on the EN button in the bottom right corner and tick United Kingdom. >_< lol.

You'd reverted to Yank keyboard settings, I think.

If it ever happens again, see the little sign at the bottom right that says "EN" - click that and select "English (United Kingdom)".

Usually when you reinstall XP it will revert back to US Keyboard adn may also revert if you have to Load a Windows Save Version too. That and the fact Windows loves being US *laughs*

You can also hold down alt and hit 0163 on your numpad for a £. Incidentally, over here, we call '#' a pound sign. ...And it means 'number'. Don't ask me how that works.

That's what everyone used to tell me when I asked on a different messageboard. However the EN sign was never there for me, it is now but wasn't before. Strange. :brow

It's only there once you tell windows to display the language bar, otherwise it just assumes you want the default-default of 'Merican.
