The Usual SuspeX is about to run another competition - this time based on GR:AW.
As with all TUS Comps they have a twist...(explained below). From the 1st June we will be looking on a first come first served basis for 15x - 4 man strong teams to apply on our forums to take part in the comp.
The comp is endorsed by Ubisoft and Ubisoft will be giving the winning team a limited edition faceplate (limited to 3000 produced) - the team will receive a faceplate each.
What is the comp - well read on.
GHOST RECON WARFIGHTERS BATTLE OF GENTLEMEN
The city of Gentlemen is in turmoil; the government has been overthrown by a clan of radical activist known as TUS (The Usual SuspeX), who have taken control of all nine districts of the city. However, the battle for control has taken its toll on the TUS fighters, leaving them unable to defend the districts from all the other clans who opposed the former government… and so the battle for ultimate control of the city is on…
Rules Of Engagement…
The TUS always have at least one small team of warfighters from each of its four regiments patrolling a city district, usually in 4 man teams. Each regiment is based on the weapons they use - AUTO RIFLEMAN, RIFLEMAN, GRENADIERS and GHOSTS – and are classed in superiority in that said order. AUTO RIFLEMAN are the grunts of the army… always the first to be sent into battle, with their blunt – but effective – “spray and pray” LMG’s. When brute force is not enough, the RIFLEMAN are sent in… a more tactical bunch, who normally prefer to use their A4 rifles from afar. When all else fails, the GRENADIERS are men to save the day, with a little help from their advanced MR-C/AGL rifles… the perfect blend of range, ammo and explosive force. However, it takes a perfect blend of all the regiments to truly be the best… which is exactly what the GHOSTS are. Made up from the best of each class and commanded by a MARKSMAN, they are the ones to finish the job when the going gets really tough – be it with the head-on force of the MR-C/AGL with M203 Launcher, or the hide-and-seek tactics that only the MR-C LW camera rifle can provide.
Rules and fair play are the two things that all the inhabitants of Gentlemen City hold dear and care about – even during a coup – which is why every clan now involved in the struggle for power, are only too happy to be overseen by a TUS Observer and fight using TUS’s same regiment structure and rules of engagement… particularly as it shows a true sign of superiority and skill to beat an enemy of equal force.
Order of Engagement…
The City of Gentlemen is made up of following nine distinct districts…
1 = North West Desert District…
2 = Nowhere North District…
3 = North East Boneyard District…
4 = The West Wharf District…
5 = Central Treasury District…
6 = The East Temple District…
7 = South West Fishing District…
8 = Old Town South District…
9 = South East Cove District…
The first stage for any clan wishing to take control of the Central Treasury District is to qualify by taking control of one of the surrounding districts and set up a base of operations there. Once a challenge has been made against another clan who wish to control the same district, a round of battles will progress as follows…
GAME MODE (ROUND 1) = ELIMINATION ESCALATION.
TYPE = Firefight with No Respawn.
TIME = 10 minutes
KIT = A4 Rifle / T-95 LMG / MR-C + AG Launcher / Smoke Grenades
ADVANCED = Team Start Location = Swapped / Drones = None / ID = Friendlies Only / Class Modifiers = No / Weapon Pick-up = No
Both teams start out using the weapons of the lowest class (AUTO RIFLEMAN).
The losing team in each round then escalates to the next class in superiority (RIFLEMAN).
Once a team has lost a round whilst playing as the highest class (GRENADIERS) the battle for the map is lost.
GENTLEMEN’S RULES: Players may only use the weapon for whichever class they are playing as during that round.
This process is continued until all eight surrounding districts are controlled by a clan. The second stage is for each of the invading clans to fight one of their neighbours for the control of their respective maps. Once a challenge has been made against a neighbour, a round of battles will progress as follows…
GAME MODE (ROUND 2) = TERRITORY TUG-OF-WAR.
TYPE = 1 Base All Zone Failure with No Respawn.
TIME = 10 minutes
KIT = M107 Sniper / MR-C LW / T-95 LMG / MR-C + AG Launcher / Smoke Grenades
ADVANCED = Team Start Location = Standard / Drones = 2 Minutes / ID = Friendlies Only / Class Modifiers = No / Weapon Pick-up = No
Both teams play as GHOSTS, using at least one weapon from each class (AUTO RIFLEMAN, GRENADIERS, CAMERA GUN RIFLEMAN or MARKSMAN).
The first round is to be played on the Central Treasury map, with both teams unable to move their drone from the spawn.
The losing team then has to defend on their base map, but can move their drone.
Once a team has lost 3 rounds, the battle for their base map is lost.
GENTLEMEN’S RULE: Only the losing team may control their drone during the next round, the other teams drone must stay in the spawn.
This process is continued until only two clans have control of all the surrounding districts. The two clans will then battle for control of the Central Treasury District…
GAME MODE (ROUND 3) = THE SHARP END.
TYPE = Team Sharpshooter with 3 Respawns per player.
TIME = 10 minutes
KIT = M107 Sniper / MR-C LW / T-95 LMG / MR-C + AG Launcher / ZEUS-MPAR / Smoke Grenades
ADVANCED = Team Start Location = Standard / Drones = None / ID = Friendlies Only / Class Modifiers = No / Weapon Pick-up = No
Both teams are to designate a Team Leader (TL), who must use the RPG as their weapon.
Both teams are to designate a deployment order for each of the four classes available (GHOSTS, AUTO RIFLEMAN, GRENADIERS and RIFLEMAN) to the TUS Observer via the in-game message system.
The losing team in each round then escalates to the next class, as designated in their deployment order (the TL always uses the RPG).
All the rounds are to be played on the Central Treasury map.
You can only score by killing the Team Leader, all other deaths are void.
Once a team has lost 3 rounds, the battle for the map is lost.
GENTLEMEN’S RULE: Players may only use the weapon for whichever class they are playing as during that round.
.....
Basically 16 teams will start the competition trying to gain a territory out of the 8 available. Therefore round 2 is the 8 surviving teams battling with the other remaining teams to take over additional territories. (NOTE - 16th team will be TUS Team - therefore we are looking for an additional 15 teams)
When we have 2 teams that own 4 territories each - they will then battle for the final match to control the central district and winning the comp outright.
Team registration does not have to be a clan - but simply a group of 4 players that can gather themselves together and register on June1.
Registration will be on The Usual SuspeX forums ( http://www.theusualsuspex.com/forum/ ) A dedicated forum for the comp will be avail soon along with postings again of all the rules of engagement...how each game is to be played out.
And with registering you can lay a claim to which of the 8 territories you want - this is first come first served and when 2 teams have laid a claim to the same territory out of the 8 - they will battle to own that territory - with the losing team being out of the rest of the comp.
Battles go on until all 8 territories are owned and then you can challenge other teams for their areas until you own 4 taking on the other team in the final that owns the other 4.
It will be a cool comp and more information will follow soon. Once again it is endorsed by Ubisoft and Ubisoft are supplying the prizes for this comp.
Note - I will update when teams can register.
