A short while ago, someone on NeoGAF (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=96767) (forums loosely related to Gaming Age) claimed to have received a release list from someone inside Bethesda.

I just got a release list from Bethesda....first one in a while. I gave it a quick glance then did a double take and spit take with my morning coffee.....take a look:

PS2 AMF Extreme Bowling 2006 (Mud Duck) 9-May-06
XBX AMF Extreme Bowling 2006 (Mud Duck) 9-May-06
PS2 IHRA Sportsman Edition 9-May-06
XBX IHRA Sportsman Edition 9-May-06
PS2 Pirates Of The Caribbean:Legend of Jack Sparrow 1-Jun-06
PS2 Star Trek - Battlestations 6-Oct-06
360 Star Trek - Legacy 6-Oct-06
DS Star Trek - Tactical Assault 6-Oct-06
PSP Star Trek - Tactical Assault 6-Oct-06
PS3 Oblivion 6-Nov-06
PSP Oblivion 6-Nov-06

But Bethesda responded (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=64103)with "At present we have no announced plans to bring Oblivion to any platforms other than PC or Xbox 360."

Seems like bull, especially since a PSP version would be.. odd, even if the Elder Scrolls have hit mobile devices. I for one would feel a little pissed if the PS3 got Oblivion, even though I'm sure it wouldn't be better, since there's no way Bethesda can revamp it to take full advantage of Cell. How would you guys feel about the 360 losing the console-exclusive bit for Oblivion?

Bethesda Softworks says it has no plans to do PSP and PS3 versions of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, despite what some-bloke-on-a-forum said. (Yep.)

"At present we have no announced plans to bring Oblivion to any platforms other than PC or Xbox 360," is the official line issued yesterday.

That's after a chap called "snatches" on the Gaming Age Forums claimed they were - and that the games were due out this November. Apparently the source was a "release list from Bethesda".

Since then, he's responded to news of Bethesda's cold water by saying "if this news isn't true it's because some sales idiot at Bethesda sent out incorrect info"

Uh.. Phat. I had already linked and quoted that? And raised, I don't think we need to worry about Elder Scrolls 5. Bethesda has had more than enough success with the PC and 360 to tell them there's a market for it.

The Bethesda wording makes me nervous. "Announced any plans" and "At present" is not a "We aren't going to be developing it for PS3."

So what if they do? It still wont be as good as the 360 version because it would be like what, 3 year old by the time the PS3 launches?

Well, the PS dynasty already has a stranglehold on RPGs. Losing the exclusive Elder Scrolls would be a hurt to the 360. And, it could very well be better, just like GTA was arguably better once it transitioned to Xbox. Which is an appropriate analogy, since we aren't talking 3 years. More like 8 months.

I'd say it's highly likley to got to PS3....the game is selling bucket loads as it is and Bethesda know it's sell like crazy if ported to PS3 so financially it'd be a good move for them.

Just take Resi 4 as an example...it's a Gamecube exclusive!! Woohoo! Then when Capcom saw all the praise it was receiving ported it to PS2 and PC even :s

At the end of the day money talks.

With the amount of money involved in developing a game for the next gen consoles and high end PC's, its in the developers best interests to get them most out of each and every successful product they can.

If it means releasing products on all formats to maximise the revenue streams then credit to them for making a product that is wanted by gamers all over.

Quality will always shine through. Enjoy it while you can.
