I saw a topic on the PS3, but not the Revolution.... :brow

Who's getting one ?

I will get one, but just not at launch. I think the controller idea is really smart, and since it's Nintendo, the first party games will still be fun. :geek:

No dice pal...I stopped liking nintendo right after I bought my GBA...that's right...the original horizontal purple one...what a dissapointment...32bit my arse! So yeah...I'm an ultimate Nintendo anti-fan...the only thing I like about Nintendo is the fact that I can play the mario theme tune on my bass...

Nah, I love Nintendo. I wouldn't say im a fanboy but I do love Nintendo. Actually I love all of them apart from Sony. I am an anti Sony fan!

Nah, I would do only I can't afford a 360 AND a Revolution.

Even though I would really like one :D

Yup, I'll be getting one.

Will try to get all 3 consoles this time around, but if I miss one out it'll definitely be the PS3.

Nintendo are marketing this machine as the "second console". It's an interesting tactic - basically suggests that Nintendo have virtually given up on the convetional console war - however, it could guarantee them plenty of sales.

Lets not forget the facts about Nintendo:

- They have a track record for making innovative things work. (DS, analogue stick, rumble pack).
- They make bloody good games.
- The Revolution will be online, and will offer a solid service.
- The Revolution will function in alignment with the DS system.

Sounds like it's going to be good to me? And for $100 (some rumours are saying), you'd be a fool to not get one.

Spot on.

Thats the credit Nintendo deserves. If the Revolution has everything as promised I would be silly not to pick it up for $200.

We also haven't mentioned you will be able to play all the classic Nintendo games on the Revolution.

Exactly that is probably the best invention ever. Will the game downloads cost a small fee?

I am guessing they will come at a small cost, but if Nintendo have any sense giving them away in turn for Star Points would also be a good move.

If its direct ports with no graphical differences I think they could easily do this on the cheap. And its not like Nintendo likes to pillage their fans for money like Sony does with their multi-tap.

get2sammyb

Yes they will have a small cost I would imagine - but it may work via. a stars catalogue type service.

Hopefully it will be, because thats the main reason why I would purchase the console, because I sold all my old consoles :(

AfroJoe
26/Oct/05, 09:36 PM
Even although N64 games are available, I'm never selling that amazing machine over in the corner there. *Points* :D

Seriously, though, currently wired up with 4 controllers and Goldeneye sitting in the slot, with Mario Kart 64, No Mercy and ISS98 nearby. If ever we get bored of some of the Gamecube's better multiplayer games we've got a great solution.

N64 = the best ever.

REvoultion should be a good console. Online is supposed to be FREE. The system will be cheap. Can you Imagine playing Super Smash Bros. Online?

Yes...but I have a good imagination.

AfroJoe

Online itself will indeed be free, which I think is fantastic. I can play Mario Kart against people all over the world, and for a grand total of £0. Classy.

(I know I'm paying for the console, the game, the controller, etc, but I'm talking about additional costs, so before you start... shut up :D)

WACCOE

Im getting a 360, so won't be able to afford one. (Unless I win the PESFan comp :p)

I don't think it will live up to the standards.

AfroJoe
03/Nov/05, 10:44 PM
Pah, get a job for a month. That should be enough to get a Revolution, as they're supposed to follow the Gamecube's lead and be dirt cheap from launch day. Well, £150 dirt, yeah (:D), but for a console in this day and age, that's a great price.

Especially seeing as there's so much scope for innovation, but also the ability play simple favourites like Smash Bros, Mario Kart and Metroid online for a fee of £0. And finally, you can download anything from a massive range of titles which have appeared on Nintendo systems in the past, giving you a good reason to sell all your old machines.

Trust me, it's going to far bypass the standards. :)

"For the "extremely low in capability" NES and SNES games, the Revolution's CPU has the capacity to handle the processing of the downloaded game without the involvement of the GPU."

What on earth are Nintendo thinking by making it possible to play NES and SNES games? Barely anyone will use that feature. (N)

AfroJoe

Hmm, I dunno, it might be appealing to loads of nostalgic bandits that think Nintendo's new stuff is rubbish.

And I'll definitely be getting my hands on Super Mario Kart. :D

I am beggining to to look into the nintendo over the PS3.

Mainly because its completely diffrent from the 360 but the PS3 is trying to copy the 360.

Should be fun.

JJBDude
28/Nov/05, 04:33 PM
Ste you are right. I myself consider Xbox 360 and PS3 the same and the Revolution completely different. The games that are unique to Nintendo (Mario, Zelda) in my opinion are much better than the games that are unique to Microsoft and Sony and therefore give me a reason to buy a Revolution. The next Super Smash Brothers online..... that'll own.

AfroJoe
28/Nov/05, 04:37 PM
Oh yes, that'll be excellent.

And yup, I'll definitely be getting a Revolution as well as my 360. PS3 can pish off - I've spent enough on replacing my PS2s, and I can't be bothered giving Sony any more money. :D

JJBDude
28/Nov/05, 05:03 PM
Actually now that I think about it AfroJoe I have also spent more money on fixing my Playstation 2 than I have on my Gamecube and Xbox put together. My first PS2 broke and my second PS2 had a laser problem costing me 50 quid to repare. All in all Sony suck. :@

AfroJoe
28/Nov/05, 05:07 PM
Heh, I've had 2 laser faults, meaning I've had 3 PS2s.

Just as worthwhile buying a new PS2 than replacing the laser, as it's only about £20 more, and that means you get a whole new system. Apparently that doesn't matter, though, seeing as I'm sure they try to find ways to break on you anyway. :D

SHOCK!!

Super Street Fighter, all the Mario Games, the Metroid games, the Zelda games, the original F-Zero, Star Wing, there are loads of Snes games i'd be picking up, but i think the Nes games will be given a miss, by me anyway.

I don't know, I think it'd be fun just for nostalgia. Think about it: Bitmap backgrounds, everything square and small (similar to that of the SNES)...it'd be kinda fun to remember those early times. I don't know, the Revolution looks O.K., but no way for me! Xbox 360 all the way! I have to admit, though, after further research on the console, the controllers seem pretty good, y'know? I though they'd be a B.S. idea but they seem alright. It seems to me that all that would be possible would be like little minigames and stuff; I mean how deep can you get with a T.V. remote for a controller?!!

There will also be a more standard controler available, one that apparently the 'tv remote' one will slot in to.

I'm still not sold on the Revoltion, the best feature is the abitlity to download old nintendo games. But almost all of the old school 2D games you can find on the internet.

When was that announced? I remember IGN saying that there would be a more standard controller available for the revolution and then they had a mock up of the GC controller with the "TV type" controller attached to it in a VM/DC controller type of fashion, but i never heard anything official about being able to use the GC controller.

AfroJoe
01/Dec/05, 06:21 PM
Nintendo announced it at the same time they announced the Revolution controller.

It is mainly compatible with the Revolution due to the large number of backwards compatible games they're going to be releasing, but they also said it would work with new titles (sports games, for example), so that they don't get people avoiding their console due to not being able to play some of the more simple games that just wouldn't work with the revolutionary idea.

Nintendo say they have another big secret up their sleves regarding the Revolution but its highly unlikely it will be announced before May 9th.

AfroJoe
05/Dec/05, 05:11 PM
Still, should make for an amazing E3 if reports are to be believed.

They've shown it to some companies, who are apparently thrilled by the new idea, and are ready to join the Revolution development teams. Big names as well.

Looking good for Ninty - let's hope they can pull it off.

I had a DS. Got it on launch day.Had to put up with MARIO 64DS being the only good game (it was amazin) that wasnt enough.1 game but again I underestimate the Ninty. 1.Mario Kart DS
2.Online
3.Touch Golf
4.Sonic Rush
5.Fifa 06 (Was given a pretty good review due to Touch screen capabilities)
6.New Super Mario bros due soon
7.Metroid Hunters
8.Metroid Pinball
9.Mario & Luigi 2
10.Super Monkey Ball DS
11.Resi Evil

I could go on forever. I honestly truly regret it and when I rebuild my finance and 360 collection I will certainly be re-buying it.

As for the Revo it looks totally superb. For all those doubters when have Ninty let their fans out. Never and dont think about saying the game cube it was a cracking machine my favourite games are on that. And if I get 1 I certainly will use the back catalogue feature. AH now I can breathe!!! Any thoughts???

Ill defiantly be getting the Revolution.

In past years Nintendo consoles haven’t done too well, but now with the appointment of Satoru Iwata replacing Hiroshi Yamauchi as head of Nintendo I can already see a change in the way things are going.

The DS is Iwata's first project, and admittedly in the beginning things were very slow, but now it seems to have made its stamp on the industry. Recently Mario Kart and Animal Crossing have been released and with their release DS unit sales have rocketed, and I think you can safely put this down to these two games online mode, and with Metroid Prime Hunters just around the corner you can expect to see the DS selling even better.

I think one of the biggest selling points for the Revolution will be Nintendo's first party games online modes, Iwata said at E3 that he wants Smash brothers to be a launch title and also to be online, this game alone with the online feature will be a system seller imo, but Nintendo have other great multiplayer based games in their arsenal as well and it wouldn’t surprise me if they all had some sort of online mode.

All this said and im yet to get onto the controller. When i first saw the controller i didnt like it, but as soon as i saw the demonstration video i saw its potential.

Games that haven’t interested me in the past suddenly became interesting because of this controller, im looking forward to owning a golf game where you swing the controller instead of move the analogue stick up and down, im looking forward a tennis game where you can hit the ball as well as put spin on it by swinging the controller as opposed to pushing a button, im even looking forward to a fishing game which is something i thought id never say.

But i think FPS games will be effected the most, i think if done right it will make them greater then any FPS on any other console, cause the controller is well suited to that type of game. Look at Golden eye for the N64 it was a good game, but when asked why was it a good game some people find it hard to answer, i think the main reason why people thought the game was as good as it was was mainly down to the N64 controller and the Z trigger.

The Revolutions controller also has this same sort of button, but they’ve called it the B button and you’ll use your right hand to press it instead of your left, and this is even more adding to the 'feel' of the game and i think that may be the phrase to sum up the Revolution, games will feel better on it.

As much as im excited about the Revolution and its possibilities, im equally excited about the Xbox 360, the X360 is capable of a lot of things and has many great games announced for it, also i like the current controll system, and by owning both of these consoles ill have the best of both worlds.

I'll deffo be picking up the Revolution at launch. I've loved Nintendo's first party franchises since buying a NES and will continue buying them as long as Nintendo produce them. For me the Revolution and Xbox360 will satisfy all my gaming needs. I'll probably pick up the PS3 as well, but not for a while after launch and once the price has dropped.
