In addition to Bungie making Halo: Forerunner, Game Informer is now stating that Bungie is in the beginning stages of an FPS MMO based on Halo, for the 360. The current internal name is Orion.

The article states that the game is still in the planning stages, and subject to a lot of change. To me, this seems like just a way for the mag to cover their ass when printing a wild baseless rumor.

The sites don't look like realiable sources to me (never seen or heard of them before) therefore I won't take anything you read from their to heart.

I notice that on the Scan that has been doing the rounds on the net this morning. There is also a rumour that a Bungie developed Arcade Live game is nearly complete.

Actually, flickr is just a site people host pictures on. MaxConsole is the site that's actually claiming this, and all they did was type up what the pictured text is. The story itself is from Game Informer.

The true fishiness comes up that a number of sites claimed Bungie was making a Halo MMO for April Fool's day, and so perhaps Game Informer is doing the same.

On the other hand, there was a lot of speculation and rumoring that Halo 3 would be very MMOish. This article (http://m3mnoch.wordpress.com/2006/01/30/halo-3-is-an-fps-mmog/), made way before April, makes a number of good points for why the Bungie project is an MMO. It's based off of a dev journal entry (http://www.bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?story=weeklyupdatejan27th&p=6031447) on Bungie.net. The article talks about how there's a lot of UI work being done. How there's apparently a lot of discussion about text input. And the dev says 'what if we implement split-screen'? Well. Could you imagine Halo without a split-screen capability? No self-respecting FPS doesn't have split-screen, so shouldn't that be a no-brainer? Unless.. It's something like D&D Heroes, and not first person at all. Or, it's an MMO, and MMOs don't have split-screen, so there would be a question.

If I dont hear this stuff from Bungie's mouth, I dont believe anything people are saying.

Well, as I said. What -has- come from Bungie's mouth is that they're concerned about text input, they don't know about split-screen, and there's gonna be a lot of UI changes/upgrades.

Another one jumping on the MMO bandwagon, I don't want to play Planetside in the Halo universe thanks very much. Shame there's only one or two developers that are actually creating truly original games at the moment :(

That's a fair point. But.. I can't remember the last time I was disappointed with a Bungie product. Unless I'm forgetting a flop?

I don't know if it'll be the best game ever, but it would definitely be good. I can't think of a better company to do a kind of project like this. They're the best are integrating their servers with Xbox Live's, and they certainly know the FPS genre, and at this point they are big enough.

Hmmm whatever happens though you just know this game wont be rushed! The guys have been working on it for almost a year and a half so say if it takes 3 years to do we still have half off the time already waited left to wait if you get me! Hopefully they wont do what Bethesda done and take 5 years making the game! For the simple reason that so many people will get really angry lol!

It's still coming, being called Forerunner, as far as we know. Whether Forerunner will be MMO-ish or there is a separate Halo franchise MMO game coming to the 360 is being hinted at.

Oh, please. First, it'll probably be called Halo: Forerunner or Halo 3: Forerunner. Second, it's not a name they pulled out of nowhere.
