Now that you can manage your friends list and blahblahblah from the website, someone has made an application to let you do the same, without opening up your web browser. I'm not entirely clear on why this is better than a browser window, but I'll try it out and report back. In the meantime, here's the link.

edit: Apparrently it's biggest deal is that it has friend notifies, toast pop-ups. That is pretty cool. Now if only Microsoft would allow messaging-from-web.

Could be quite handy if you where sat at your PC browsing and one of your friends popped on line wanting to play.

That looks cool, but I wanted to download it but it requires .NET Framerwork 2.0 so I went to the download page but which one do I use?
Download x86 version
Download x64 version
Download IA64 version

Depends on your Operation system but Download x86 version should be used for all intel / standard processors.

That's something I really want to see. Right now the modem I am using only has 1 ethernet connection, therefore meaning I can't go on Xbox Live and Internet on my PC at the same time. Being able to talk to my friends without having to go onto Xbox Live and thus losing connection to the Internet on my PC would be great.
Hopefully, sometime in the future this will happen. (Y)

You could get a router. Or an extra ethernet card for your PC. But, yeah, messaging-from-web would be sweet.
Not yet, Killer. But I'm working on it.

It should open up an IE window, and send you to the passport login. Then, you sign in, making sure you click the 'save name and password' radiobox.

Okay I uninstalled it, I'm going to take another shot at it, I just saved it on to my desktop, which is what I always do when I download things like this, I selected it on my desktop and it gives me an option extract the files, do I do that or do I just run it?

I don't know exactly what I've got going on but my BT Voyager Modem is connected to my phone line, and i have a Router connected to my Modem and the Router is then connected to my PC. My dad said if the Internet didn't work straight away (which it didn't) I would have to type in my IP address into the url bar (or something like that) and change the settings of my DNS server. I did as he said but it didn't work, just got to wait for him to reply to my email. :@

The download section didn't have the straight-up executable, it had a zip file. So yeah, extract it, and then run the only file that extracts, the .exe

NP. The install process is a little confusing, with the IE window and everything, but once it's done it's done.

Seemed easy enough to me just extract all the files, run the program, sign into passpost account (and & click to remember password & email) and bingo I was on it. Simple enough stuff even the missus could do it!
