So, anyone else enjoying TRL today? I couldn't get it out the posties hand quick enough this morning, and after enjoying the Marketplace demo - the full game certainly doesn't disappoint.

The syruppy controls of her last effort on PS2 have been replaced with a fluid control system that is intuitive and easy to master. The graphics (although admittedly a few steps short of being truly next-gen) are lush and atmospheric.

But best of all... she's raiding tombs again! None of this running around Paris nonsense. This is old school Tomb Raider looking (and playing!) better than it ever has.

As you can tell... I'm enjoying it :)

Been playing this solid since yesterday and it gets better and better, Peru and Ghana are a pleasure to play through. Loads to do and so many things to find. Truly excellent.

I am considering getting this. I mean you guys are saying it's good, and I remember loving the first Tomb Raider games that were made. Only thing that worries me is it's lifespan. I don't want to go spend 40 quid to only get 10 hours worth of gaming out of it.

How does trading work? is it a straight swap or do you give them say FNR3 and £20?

Well I gave them PGR (which I traded) and they said they'd give me £25 for it, fair enough...which just meant I had to put £20, to make up the full £45.

But you can just trade a game(s) in and get a credit note, which you can spend when a game you wanna buy comes out. :cool:

Ive played the demo and am so glad they have sorted out the controls from the last one. They are now so smooth and fluid, back to how they used to be! Im definately going to get this. Ive just listed my nitro powered RC subaru on ebay to get the money (rubs hands together)

So you say. However Thornbag seems like a guy who will trade in games every week when he gets bored of them. If you can save 5 quid everyweek with a little bit of effort spent on ebay, then you will be able to save a fair bit of money. :)

So what's so good about this game, does it have hand-to-hand combat? does it have alot of weapons and vehicles?

I was never a fan of Tomb Raider but this sounds decent, also what do you kill, bears or people?

I had a quick go of this and I can't say I'm impressed with the controls especially when underwater. I was playing in Croft manor though just to test them out. As I type now I can hear the missus playing it and she is on 22% already.

The game itself is *spoiler start highlight to read*only 8 levels long so not that big a game *spoiler end* and I probably won't even bother playing it, its looking good for a trade in!

I got an early copy of it, and I'm about 80% done with a review for it. So if things work out here I might be actually doing some reviews for you guys.

And so far I'm really digging the game, they have done a good job bringing her back to life..

I've played the demo and I have mixed opinons on it. I can see that the game has good potential if you have the patience to bother mastering every type of maneuver. Now for example, in the demo there is a part where you have to jump off a ledge and grab onto a rope. Now for some bizarre reason I kept having problems with this. I swear Laura was jumping high enough to get onto the rope but she obviously wasn't, as she kept falling. However there are parts in the game I am pleased with, like having to tap Y when she is about to fall from a ledge and tapping Y in rythem to move faster along ledges (something the Prince needs to learn).

Not sure if the demo has done enough for me to make me go out and buy it. I do think Prince of Persia is better but Laura does have some nice touches (apart from the shooting which sucks so bad).

Just picked the game up, I've just finished the first level so far (the demo level). Anyone able to find all the silver and bronze articfacts. I have 9 out of 10 bronze, 3 out of 5 silver and I got the gold for the first level.

It has achievements and whatnot. Not every game you own has to be multiplayer. What happened to enjoying the single-player experience? If you liked the game, at least rent the full version.

Blaze Lord I couldn't agree with you more. Single player games are good look at Oblivion no multiplayer and its good. As for Tomb Raider its probably worth a rental as opposed to spending big cash on it. I will be trading in my copy as soon as the missus has finished messing about with ours.

Any shortcuts or tips for the time trials (apart from the 1 shot kill)?

I have Ghana, Kazakhstan and England to do. Only tried Kazakhstan out of the three so far and was way short of the time...time ran out charging the Tesla coil.

I know a few people have got 100% on this.

here you go (Y)
1. Complete Game on whichever difficulty you would like.
2. Go to level select and select whichever level you would like to do time trial on.
3. Go to select difficulty and select time trial.
4. Start game and you should have a countdown timer in the lower right hand corner of screen.
5. Press start and exit out of level back to main menu.
6. Select the same level you were just playing. DO NOT edit anything, and DO NOT reselect Time Trial. Just select the same level and hit continue.
7. Start level and you should NOT have a timer in the lower right hand corner.
8. Play level at whatever speed you want to.
9. IMPORTANT NOTE: The first time you die after following this procedure, when you reload from the last checkpoint the timer will start, SO, if you make it to the very end of the level, or even to the middle of the level without dying, you have a BIG head start.
10. DO NOT finish the level without dying. If you do not die and you make it to the end of the level, kill yourself in any means necessary before you cross into the final cut scene of each level.

just a small thing, in some parts of the level you don't have to kill everything that comes up, just continue.

I got england on my third try, i had 1 minut left.

kasakhstan is hard 3 different parts to do and a final part that when i played the level made mad to find out what to do i wanted to kill the monster!!!

when your on the bike just go has fast as you can.

i did this in some levels:

- wrote down the time after a check point or a special zone of the level if i did everything right. because if you die maybe you don't do it to the end, then the best is just start again. On the ghana level i did this and in peru!

That tip does actually work which Phatmuther submitted, it made my life a hell of a lot easier. :D

Although I did find that on a couple of the levels I did finish within the time limit and on the other I was only like 5 minutes out. So I do think I could have done it properly if I could have been bothered, but I'm lazy.

i did all my trials the right way, peru was hard to start but after i tried it 20 times i got it and i had 2.05 minuts to go!

Finally aced Tomb Raider today and got 1000/1000 gamerscore on it. Definitely one of my most time consuming games and most rewarding achievements. Going through that game 3 times isn't easy.

Oh it is easy Raised, but it's just time consuming and boring (especially if you start off on easy difficulty because you didn't think you'd be good enough to complete it on hard).

And yeah Phatmuther, this is one of my hard-earning achievements so far. 11 games I have 1000 gamerscore on now. :D
