Online will be fantastic. I believe you will be able to setup your own tournemants. I will definetly be getting it.

I have a feeling this will be really ****ty on the 360, LMA sucked on the PS2 but who knows.
AfroJoe
05/Apr/06, 02:03 PM
I'm getting it because my PC version doesn't work properly due to me having a kind of pishy PC.
cazbhoy
05/Apr/06, 03:16 PM
but lma is a console manager game and they normally always suck whereas fm2006 for 360 is exactly the same as the pc version apart the acheivements and different online play of course
UpTheDuff
06/Apr/06, 05:57 AM
Yeah but playing a management game with a control pad just seems weird, unless they support a mouse and keyboard.
Also, is it identical to the PC? TCM for the PC wasn't bad but the PS2 version was downright shocking, it was a completely different game so lets wait and see what FM2006 is like :)
I'm getting this FM!
uptheduff don't worry the 360 has enough power to run the game, and the menus of the game in HD will be sweet!

I dont know. At first I was definetly going to buy it but now I am a little reluctant. Is it really a next gen game.I am not too sure. Ill see, I am going to a few game stores today but I dont know yet.

Am seriously considering getting this, mainly for the online play. I have the game on PC and it's great, therefore I know I will enjoy playing it on my 360. However I just don't know if it's worth spending 40 quid when I already own the game.
Touch decision. :(

13/Apr/06, 08:11 PM
Just got my copy there so ill give it a shot and let u know how it compares but from what I heard its the exact same as the pc version apart from achievements and the better online play of course
AfroJoe
13/Apr/06, 08:23 PM
Pretty much. I've been playing it for about 3 or 4 hours now.
One thing I've not got my head around is the crappy menu navigation. No mouse means you have to go through all the options as you'd go through a menu in, say, PES5. Takes a bit more time.
It's difficult working out how to do particular stuff as well, in relation to things like formations.

I dont know why these sort of games are popular. They are just glorified spreadsheets.
WACCOE
13/Apr/06, 11:50 PM
It should do it where t liek has a mouse cursor and you can move it, Prem Man '98 is an example which did this, was miles easier.
1 question - what are the loading times like? If there anytnig like PC I doubt i'll get it. :s
AfroJoe
13/Apr/06, 11:58 PM
Nah, hardly any loading times.
Takes about 30 seconds to load the game at the start, and then after that you won't have to wait any longer than 5 seconds, even when there's hundreds of European matches on.

14/Apr/06, 12:37 PM

Should be getting this tomorrow. Hopefully trading in GRAW and FN3 for ot - so I shouldn't have to pay much or it.
We'll have to all get a decnet online game going - is online same as on the PC? :s
AfroJoe
16/Apr/06, 06:50 PM
Yeah, I think it is. Probably much better communication, though, due to headsets and stuff.
Trust me, you're really going to be annoyed getting to grips with the controls, but if you stick with it you'll be fine after a couple of days. It's very different, but it's a good system now I'm used to it.
WACCOE
16/Apr/06, 06:52 PM
Ah, cool. Still think they should have a cursor on it where you can control it with the left stick. By the sounds on it would make the game 10x easier. Ah well...come on Chester (giving myslef a challenge tomorrow when purchased!)
:D
AfroJoe
16/Apr/06, 06:57 PM
Yeah, the lack of cursor is pretty much the only problem. If they'd just kept one of them in it would have been pretty much identical to the PC version.
By the way, just so you know and can start straight away:
LB + RB = menu navigation
Down on the D-pad = Checking different stats (scrolling through Overall, Home and Away league tables, for example)
LT + RB = back and forwards buttons. I didn't know this until just today so I was taking ages searching for stuff. :D
The rest is pretty self-explanatory.

16/Apr/06, 07:05 PM
Coolio. Cheers. (Y)
Think im trading in GRAW (if I manage to be bothered to complete single player tonight) and FN3 in (this is just useless :D).
My life will be taken over by it - like im sure your's is. :D
Who are you on it? Partick Thistle? :)
AfroJoe
16/Apr/06, 07:11 PM
Nah, not gone them yet. Started off as Deportivo, so I'm a relatively good team, but not one that will walk their division.
I came 7th first season, and now I'm in the UEFA Cup and hoping to go further this time. Thing is, though, they're pretty poor, finance-wise, so I've had to sell off a couple of big name players, and I don't think I've got as good a team as I did first time around.
8 achievements so far, though.
WACCOE
16/Apr/06, 07:14 PM
Not doing bad then. Nice to see you have given yourslef a challenge aswell...unlike some boring people, who are just Barca/Chelsea every single time. Icould win the league asy with them, without even trying, it's boring. At least going as some just hlaf decent (not too crap, not too good) it makes the game a whole lot more fun.
:)
AfroJoe
16/Apr/06, 07:16 PM
Yeah, I always go mid-table teams.
Deportivo are my team of choice in Spain, Dortmund in Germany, Newcastle in England, Independiente in Argentina and Toluca in Mexico. I'll give Thistle a bash at some point as well, to get my "promotion" achievement. :D
WACCOE
16/Apr/06, 07:22 PM
Have you ever tried doing a Brazilian league? It's all well wierd...I don't ge tthere format whatsoever. :D
I used t go as Santos when knowone had ever heard of Robinho...they had another good player too called Renato - think he's gone to Sevilla now though. I always go as betis in Spain (even bought a Betis shirt a few years back) - have some kind of fetish for them.
:D
AfroJoe
16/Apr/06, 10:25 PM
Yeah, I've gone Sao Paulo a few times. Crazy format - nearly as mad as the MLS. :D
My mate goes Betis as well. Joaquin + Denilson = ultimate wing play. Shame "Denny Boy" is gone now. :(
This game rules so hard.
Just finished 3rd with spurs and won the FA cup.
Lost in the final of the league cup and semis of uefa cup, Think I have about 14 acheivments now?
They really add to the game, I think this is actually more addictive than the pc version, I dont know why but it just is.
AfroJoe
17/Apr/06, 01:41 PM
Yeah, it is. I've been playing my Deportivo game a hell of a lot. Shame we really suck right now.
17th in the league with only 1 win in the first 7 league games.
I'm doing fine in Europe, though. I hate it when that happens. :D

I started one with Leeds as me and my mate who were playing are both Leeds fans. Really hard to get used to using the interface and shoulder buttons etc, sure it will come in time.
Also, I think the match itself looks a bit dogger, the players are too big for my liking. :s
Sure I will be loving it soon when I get used to it.

Nice to see you have everything planned out lol.
I am now very close to ordering the game. Just 15 days until my birthday so I've got a week and a bit until I have to make my decision up as to what game to buy. 80% sure I am going to go for FM2006, if I do i might be Bolton in the Premiership or go into the La Liga and be a team such as Athletico Madrid (or Deportivo ;)).
Also can you more than 1 game save? Like on the PC version?
AfroJoe
17/Apr/06, 11:44 PM
Atletico are a good team to go as well. They're my 2nd team in Spain that I'll go if I ever feel like starting La Liga again. They're a very good team in FM06 compared to the last few, though, so it might be a bit too easy with them. :D
Yeah, you can have loads of game saves like the PC version.

Alright thanks for the speedy reply. :)
Just been looking on eBay for FM2006, was hoping to find it for 38 quid like I did with FIFA but I didn't. Therefore I'll wait a week or so and try and win it in a auction for around 36 pounds.

Cheapest I can find on there is for £39.75, only saving me 25p cause Tesco will probably be selling it for 40 pounds.
But yeah I'll keep that in mind, although I do hope to save a few quid on ebay.

I got a couple like that - were they aren't acknowledged until about a month after (game time :D) - was pretty annoying...thought they weren't going to come.
With my World Cup one im going to setup a new game adn start as brazil then go on holiday until the competition starts...some of you may call it cheating but in reality I should already have it.

I'm doing that as well. Currently at the Second Round after absolutely walking my group stage (2-0 win over Turkey, 6-0 win over Jamaica, 2-0 win over Ghana), and now due to play the Ukraine in the 2nd round.
Hopefully I'll get Ricardo Oliveira for my top scorer achievement as well, as he got 5 against Jamaica. :D

Wooo the game finally arrived yesterday, after waiting weeks and going through a dispute on eBay to get it.
The controls are actually quite good. Definitely different to the PC version but it does work, however I would prefer it if there was a easier way to view a players pages without taping RB -> Selection -> choosing what you want.
Still this is a game I can imagine myself playing for hours and hours, are you guys still playing this game? Or have I bought it too late and missed out on the fun you lot had on Xbox Live?

I've had a couple of online matches now and I'm very impressed. Can't wait to play with you lot online, however things are going badly for my Bolton team in my season (yet to win :() so I might have to start a new game and pick a different team.
Also Thornbag, did the World Cup achievement ever register for you? :)
WACCOE
15/May/06, 08:20 PM
Yep, 2nd time around. I just started a new season with Brazil, and went on Holiday until my 1st WC game. :)

15/May/06, 08:57 PM
I would have done the exact same thing if I was in your position. However I'm not doing any other types of cheating to unlock the achievements, it will seriously hinder my enjoyment of playing the game if I was to do what you just did (however the circumstance you were in made it okay, just that once).

First Game - Bolton
This was quite miserable and not fun for me. I managed to get 6th with Bolton in the Prem on the PC version of the game which I enjoyed playing, however when I am in January on the 360 version, out of every cup, and fighting to get into the top half of the Premiership table I was not having fun. Therefore I stopped playing.
Second Game - Inter Milan
Things are going much brighter for me now. I am in January and am 2nd in Serie A after going on a poor run of few games and losing points to get overtaken by Juventus. I also went 18 games in the league without losing, however I then lost to Juventus and blew my chances of going a whole season undefeated into flames. I am still in the Italian Cup and will be playing Man Utd in the second round of the Champions League in February as I stormed through the group stages winning 5 and drawing 1. So yeah things are bright for me, have only lost two matches so far (both against Juventus >_<) and I hope to achieve some honors this season. ^_^

Has very nearly happened to me too my friend, must have been extremely annoying for you. Do what I am now doing, have a backup saved file as well. :)
AfroJoe
26/May/06, 12:06 AM
Backup save file = 20 seconds more wasted saving each time. Not nice. :D
JJBDude
26/May/06, 12:16 AM
No not really. All you have to do is spend 20 seconds creating the backup file and then that's it. You don't always have to save on the original file, you can save on the backup as well. If you rotate each time then you will always have two files very close to eachother in how much you have played without the need to waste time. :)

Freddy Guarin
