Never mind BINGO rumouring it BBC have confirmed the movie.
Simpsons film confirmed for 2007

The Simpsons is now in its 17th series on US television
Twentieth Century Fox has confirmed that popular animated TV series The Simpsons is to be made into a film.
The movie will be released in the United States in July 2007.

A 25-second trailer for the film has been shown to US audiences at screenings of Ice Age: The Meltdown, promising to introduce "the greatest hero in American history".

It then cut to Homer Simpson, wearing only his underwear, who admitted: "I forgot what I was supposed to say."

The Simpsons revolves around the antics of bald, beer-guzzling family man Homer and his spiky-haired son Bart.

International hit

It is the longest-running prime-time entertainment series on television in the US and a worldwide hit.

It is currently in its 17th season, and last month, US network Fox confirmed it had commissioned two more series.

This ensured the show would stay on screens until at least 2008.

There has long been speculation about whether it would be turned into a film.

Creator Matt Groening said last year that the animated hit would keep going as long as he and his colleagues could keep generating fresh ideas.

"That's what you're looking for in television - surprise," he added.

Now I know some people have reservations about making sitcoms into films but considering the success the simpsons have had I dont think they are that stupid to blow it on a film.

Bring it on I say!!!

Fox is also promoing some big announcement to be made during this week's episode. And that's probably the movie. But I don't think the movie will be good.

Hot off the press :)

THE SIMPSONS MOVIE is written by Matt Groening, James L. Brooks, Al Jean, Brian Scully, Ian Maxtone-Graham, George Meyer, David Mirkin, Mike Reiss, Matt Selman, John Swartzwelder, and Jon Vitti.

In related news, Reuters is reporting that David Silverman, co-director of Pixar's MONSTERS, INC., director of many SIMPSONS episodes (and now the series' "supervising director") is helming the movie.
A Fox press release indicates that Albert Brooks, Minnie Driver and Erin Brockovich will be guest voices in the film.

Whats the bloody point in a simpsons movie? It'll be a disgrace to the show no doubt.

This movie will be absolutley terrible if they use the writers they currently have. I've never seen episodes as bad as they are now, I'd go as far to say that first series is better than the current one. I know it's hard to create original episodes now that they've used just about every scenario possible but the comedy that lies within the script is lame.

The Simpsons did what the Family Guy is doing now, but a decade ago, and by far superior than Family Guy.

The Simpsons has been useless for a number seasons now; I don't know what season it spiralled into mediocrity. It's too sarcastic. Study the voices of all the Simpson family currently to the voices of the sixth season: they're vastly different in comparison. As with all sitcoms, the actors getting cocky in later seasons (see: Friends). The writing of all episodes is pallid. The heart of the Simpsons (by which mean the emotional factor of the series) has been replaced by sarcasm. Matt Groening says they will discontinue the series when they run out of "fresh ideas"? That happened a long time ago.

Also: Matt Groening was thinking about ending the Simpsons after how Fox Network had treated Futurama. Removes all the veils of bull**** doesn't it?

they should have stopped making the simpsons ages ago
I used to love it but it is just too mediocre now with bad scripts its turned into a show for 10 yr olds.
wheras it was much more classy and fresh before.
the film will probably be schtick aswell.

Nine. Arguably season eight, but nine is when it is really palatable.

Well tbh I kinda drifted out of the simpsons a few years back then I was given Season 2 and thought it was so so funny. Since then I have had 3 4 and 5 and hear 6 is just as funny. I dont really see many new episodes so thats probably why I havent got tired of it yet but I sure hope I dont.

For UK residents..the simpsons new episode has got ricky gervais in it..it airs on sky one on sunday, but i downloaded it previously. Simpsons is getting less realistic than before with real issues, and these days homer is anything..but i miss the days of mr plow!

that name again is MR PLOW!

Six is the funniest, imo.
