Apparently, although there could be some foreign yet-to-be-translated fine print, stores in the land of the rising sun are selling 360s for around $170. DOA4, the game that was supposed to hold over the Japanese market before N3 and Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey? $25. If this is supply and demand, yeesh.

It wont sell as MS has no history with the Japanese gaming public. Very few of the original Xbox's sold there. It would take a Huge Japanese RPG franchise to make the transition to the 360 exclusively to get their attention.

Kotaku readers have said that the 'fine print' is that the offer is only applicable if you sign up with a particular ISP...stand alone 360's are retailing at the normal price.

They could pretty much give them away in Japan and still be outsold by DS, PSP and PS2.
